Hello new DK here, I have read many threads and forums on specs buts its confusing to me.
Can someone recommend a spec/talent build I could use to level/PL dungeouns/handle pvp encounters?

Is blood spec the only healing spec?

Well, every leveling spec will have a certain amount of self-healing. All DKs can:

Death Strike, for 5% healing per disease. Generally, Unholy and Blood will both get 15% health per strike (Unholy has 3 diseases, Blood boosts their 10% by 50% with a talent) and Frost will get 10%.

Blood Presence will give you 4% of damage back as health. Note, this is NOT a drain, the health gain for you does NOT damage the mob (I say this because a DK in game tried to tell me BP gave 19% damage because of the 4% health).

Raise Dead + Death Pact-- This will give you 40% of YOUR maximum health, but you WILL lose the ghoul and have to resummon it. One of our most OP skills, imo.

Now, after this, if you spec Blood, you can select from these:

Rune Tap--10% health with a 1 min cooldown. 3 more talent points makes it 20% with 30 sec CD. The glyph then makes it 20/30% (without/with the talents) health with a 1 min/30 sec cooldown, and it will give 10% to all party members (but I don't know about raid ones).

Mark of Blood--You will "mark" an enemy, causing every hit you take to heal you for 4% of your health. Lasts 20 seconds or 20 hits. From what I hear, it's a great tool against Rogues in PvP.

Vampiric Blood--Grants you 15% of your maximum health, but ONLY FOR THE DURATION. If you end the fight with this up, but under 15% health, you WILL DIE if you don't pot or bandage above it. But, it also increases heals by 35% for the duration (self and from others).

Bloodworms-- A chance on hits to spawn a few Blood Worms that will attack your target and heal you for the damage they cause. One of my favorite Blood talents, although not the most useful at endgame (though it DOES boost DpS a small amount).

But, I'm not gonna offer you a spec first. I have a few questions:

How much do you like using pets? Do they irritate you, even if you don't have to manually control them at all?

Do you like grinding through mobs REALLY fast?

Do you prefer to fight single targets or gather groups and mow them down?

Do you like periodic damage effects (like Warlock DoTs) or do you prefer your damage to come in bursts directly from you?

You can try my build. I'm certainly no expert and someone will probably come along and tell me how poorly I've chosen or whatever, and they may be right but this is working very well for me. At 71 Yarius can mow through some stuff and kill groups, elites, and survive adds indefinately. Seems like the only time he dies anymore is if I run him off the side of a mountain =P.

yes

groups for dungeouns and single when i meet opposite faction

Hardcore brutal quick Damage but I like the healing aspect you told me about.

Well, that spec is fine for leveling... but it is incredible confusing an inefficient. Like going that deep into Blood without getting Imp. DS and HS. I get that it was because you wanted the Perma Ghoul, but Imp DS is WAY better than Imp. RT and the higher damage from HS and the ability to hit two targets with it is phenomenal.

Really, you'll kill things way slower with that build, with lower healing as well.

Plus, you can never get DRs with that build, so you are always locked into the PS>IT>DS>BS>BS>UB cycle. And your RP dumps will be kinda pitiful.

Feel free to use it, of course. Your build while leveling means nothing, really. If it works for you, go for it. But, if you want to maximize your leveling, that may not be the best route.

Unless DK is an exception to the rule, this isn't quite right; all other effects of this nature leave you at 1 hp. Last Stand, Survival Instincts, Nightmare Seed, etc.

I have never tested it myself, but I recall someone telling me this is the way it worked.

Either way, I'd advise you try and heal above it.^^

I knew it! Told me it was a mess as I suspected.

Starting my own thread for this, thanks.

I think this talent is bugged majorly, or they need to fix the tooltips.

I have Improved Rune Tap and it reads 10% in the tooltip. I then used the glyph and it said 11% in the tooltip. So apparently the 10% that the glyph adds is 10% of Rune Tap's current value. So with Improved Rune Tap you'll get 20% health returned and with the glyph it'll be 22%.

I feel like this expansion should be called "Wrath of False Tooltips."

Because that's what I'm finding EVERYWHERE recently.
