Order of talent selectionFollow

#1 May 31 2009 at 5:09 AM Rating: Good
Hi,

I just started a Dranei shammy and will be going enhancement for leveling. Is there a resource that will show the order in which I should select talents as I train them? Or a leveling talent set for enhancement? The FAQ is kind of hard to decipher for me. <g>

Thanks

Wowwiki has a list of all different leveling and end game specs at http://www.wowwiki.com/Shaman_builds#Leveling.2FSolo_PvE

However, I think it really helps in learning a new class to spend your points how you see fit. Read all the talents and pick which ones YOU feel will help you out the most. Play with talent calcs and play around with a spec of your own. You have time in between points to plan.

Just remember that you usually want to stay in a certain tree until you get to the bottom (with exception to feral druids). Also talents that will either allow you to kill faster or give you less down time are usually the best talents to get.

Thanks. I like Enhancement because of the Dual Wield talent. Looks like fun but I may switch to a healing spec for raiding.

Sure, do that, but do yourself a favor and level to 80 as anything besides Restoration. That spec is the worst for leveling. Elemental gets pretty good at 58, but enhancement stays strong from the very beginning until the end.

100% agree with Locke above. You dont mention what level you currently are; but for the most part enhancement should be the easiest to level up with. You will find that Shammies "usually" start to shine at level 50 and above. Before that it's kind of hard to be effective if you start spreading your points around all 3 spec's. So stick to enhancement as you are leveling (unless you know you are going to be a healer for your guild and running instances)in which case I would recommend start adding points to restoration AFTER you get Toughness (10% inc. stamina), Thundering strikes (inc. crit 5%), ancestral knowdledge (inc. intell 10%) and thundering strikes ((inc. DMG with flametongue and windfury) as this will make leveling much easier even as a resto shammie. If you like to PvP a lot the also stick with enhancement BEFORE level 50.
Hope this helps, but by all means the best is to "experiment" around with your play style that you are most happy with.

Thanks. I just dinged 19 today and am sticking to the Enhancement tree. And I wasn't looking toward Resto until level 80 most certainly. I started with int and am now adding points to talents that buff my damage dealing. When I hit 70 or so I may dual spec with Resto to get started in the instances and learn to heal. My son talked me into giving him my first Shammy that I leveled to 67 before I relented. (I am such a soft touch. Oh, and he is an adult! I also gave him my Pally at level 70!) I want to take this on all the way. Time will tell whether I like him or my Ret Pally more. So far, a tie.
