I am at a loss as to what to do or say to try and help a fellow mage guildy anymore. I am hoping that maybe someone can come up with something I can't think of that I haven't already said to her =(

Background Info: My armory http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Quel%27dorei&n=Dessia/

Her armory - http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Quel%27dorei&n=Ryme/

For all intensive purpose's her stats are technicaly better than mine =( The only main diffrence is her with the T7 4 peice bonus, a lack of trinket drops, and me with better trinkets and 2 T7/ 2 T8 Bonus.

I had sat down and talked to her about regemming (getting rid of the straight crit gems, and changeing meta to the 21/3 crit gem). We did also decide that she might as well wait for a better helm for that though. In the past 2 weeks, she has passes on the Helm from FL x2 and The helm from Razorscale =( But that isn't here or there.

She did just switch to arcane in the past 2 weeks, and her damage DID improve over FFB by some (300-500ish). I have spent at the moment hours at training dummy's with her, explaining rotations, explaining Mana Gem/Evo/CD timers with and w/o Bloodlust avaliable.

The problem lays in the following. This is our WWS from last night. http://wowwebstats.com/yuilh35nw5aik/

I mean... I know arcane isn't for every mage out there. I spec'd arcane almost 4 months ago and I am just feeling that I have finnaly "got it" with my mana dumps and everything down to perfection. For those who did raid as FFB for a while and went arcane, is it really just that much of a learning curve? (I was the only Arc mage I ran with when I switched.. I did alot of research on my own with no real like sit down and talk advice so...)

Anyone else have anything I can stress on her other than rotations, gem choices, CD effectiveness? She is rather excited at her new DPS jump.. problem is, she is now complaining that cause of the time she spend she wants in on the core 10 Uld team (we have gotten Mimi down in 10 and that is it, so we are still progressing there alot...)

Based on last night's stats.. I am at a total loss of anything else I can do to help. Somethings to note about the WWS though.. XT was just... yeah bad, I ended up being the ONLY AoE on the whole left side @ 28% lol. Also.. I am the "breaker" @ Ignis. Which in those.. is the fight that concerns me most. As how we run it, casters in the middle and go pew pew and spin in a circle. I am the one who is running around DPSing the boss while watching the timers for the Golem's so I can shatter them.

Based on some of these things I am... not really wanting to take her to 10's until she can prove she CAN play the spec. Also as a note.. Xesh and Halfbreed and 2 BRAND NEW recruits for us. If given the option we have decided that we would rather take them into 10 Uld when we rotate out DPS if given the option (we have 2 rotating spots for DPS out of the tanks, healers, raid leader and our "core" memebers") so if given the option would you take her with you? She has caused drama just this week about it (she went to the 1st run, was asked to step out for the 2nd as we had neither of our MT's on at the time and went with 2 off-tanks for it, so we could have a real tank. It wasn't big blown out drama... just quiet drama... but still.

A couple of problems:

The WWS link doesn't work, at least not for me.

She is logged out in PVP gear atm.

That being said, depending on one's gear/etc it may be better to go Fireball > Arcane (it is for me). Fireball is a bit easier (which I like because I assist in leading raids and watching a ton of things with arcane is a lot harder than watching for living bomb and hot streak procs.

Every person has a limit beyond which things are difficult. For me, that's fun. What isn't so much fun was realizing that there were 9 other people who may get pissed off if I let them down.

If she's the kind of person who *will* improve and figure things out (without being a jerk), then she deserves a chance to face her challenges. It may not be with your group. That's a harsh suggestion, so maybe suggest that she try leading a Naxx 10 group a couple of weeks. That could be fun, and also will convince everyone she knows what she's doing with her class. I had a temporary spot in a 10 man Ulduar which was not enough for me. I helped put together a new 10 man group and we're gearing up for Ulduar now. I got so into it that I turned down a couple of invites to the Ulduar group so that I could work instead on getting a second core of people formed. We did get a ton of help from the "#1" group, as well as lots of people who knew what they were doing bringing on alts to join us.

Me either.

She was in PvE gear when I checked this morning, and there really weren't any holes in the gear aside from the already mentioned metagem. Honestly, until we see the WWS, I'm not sure that there's much we can do to help decipher her issues.

Thanks much guys!!

I figured out what was up with the WWS link.. I seemed to have an extra / on the end which eh who knows!

http://http://wowwebstats.com/yuilh35nw5aik

That should fix it =) I think... I have never been good at links.

Yeah I mean the main diffrence is that I have about 9 more SP than her but she has almost 1% more crit than me even w/o the meta gem. All our other stats are really similar, I probably have a touch more regen and haste, but like the 9 SP it is at the MOST a 15 point diffrence.

We have another 25 scheduled tonight. If for some reason that link still won't work I will post that WWS also <3

overall their dps was quite low, especially on ignis which is a super simple fight (2.8k?!) I normally hit around 4-5kdps

http://wowwebstats.com/fp4ionnediy3s?s=311018-373996

our Ignis.

same with Archavon which is fairly stand and shoot still had pretty low dps. I would have her read through and try to learn the finer points of it. For some people some specs don't work for them and others are easier to pick up and do (like how I like fireball > arcane, beyond the point that it is overall higher dps for my gear).

I'd be more worried about the 2900 DPS on Deconstructor.

Edit: Scratch that, the person in question appears to have died before the heart phase, so more understandable.

She seems to have used Arcane Barrage pretty heavily. I could be wrong(I don't follow arcane as much as I should), but as I recall, isn't ABarr an underpowered spell nowadays?

Also, overall, she seems to have been hitting a lot less often than you do. Perhaps she needs to learn to queue up the next spell early to deal with latency?

I actually tend to do a bit worse on Ignis than I do on other fights due to that damn interrupt(I tend to forget about it and get silenced at least once a fight).

A case of this, you might say?

And yeah, last I checked ABar was out of the still arcane rotation.

P.S. Anobix, what's up with that other mage in your WWS?

Abarr is kindof out of the rotation. It is still a dps increase, albeit a minor one - the issue is that the DPM is fairly low. So if you have any mana issues that is the first thing to cut out of the rotation.

As for the other mage, I have no idea how his dps is so bad (a good amount of the time). Actually I do... I tend to get off about 10-25% more casts than he does.

That's another good question...I wonder how the other mage is doing on mana.

Yeah, I noticed. He hits harder than you with fireball but gets off barely any casts - and yet his dps time is the same % of his presence, so he must just be losing time in between ball casts... somehow. Also, not using Mirror Image for some reason.
