There's not a lot more they can do without a ton of overhead...they can't really change the basic framework of the model, nor how it behaves. Increasing poly count goes a long way to improving the overall look and feel, more than these still images tell. I'm pretty confident we can expect our characters to 'fold' less and actually move and flex limbs properly, plus the texture changes.
It's not like this changes in any way how we play the game anyhow. It's a bone blizzard is throwing our way, and I'll take whatever I can get in that regard. They get enough complaints about actual things that matter.
Like what? Raid instances being too easy/hard? PvP being skewed as hell? They've been dealing with that since the beginning of times.
Seriously, if they could give my Death Knight badass armor from the get-go, how hard is it to add armor to the Druid models? They don't even have to change the hitbox, if that's what you're referring to with 'framework'?
They could add as much crap to the models as they wanted without it affecting PvP or PvE in any way. Well, maybe if they made the model huge like Ursoc, but hey, why would they? It's nice that we get more polygons and new colors, but why did it all have to be such a massive pile of fail? White kitty with pink tattoo? Bear with sideburns? Female Tauren get male Cat form and male Night Elves get emofail Cat form.
Look at the paws on Cat form. Not a lot of Mangle and Shred over them. More like Thud and Scratch.
And my Druid has green hair, for various reasons. According to MMO-Champion, this means I'll get the gray Cat form with a green necklace. You've got to be kidding me. Seriously, they might as well strip us of Prowl, because no one is going to miss my Cat lurking in the shadows when he's looking like he crashed into the Scissor Sisters.
