Help needed for a newly returned mage!!Follow

#1 May 23 2009 at 7:59 AM Rating: Decent
I recently took about a 6 month vacation from WoW. I have always ran a deep fire mage with a few arcane talents to round it all out. It just seems to click for me. My question is with the new dual spec set up; What do I use for my second spec? I thought about frost but am lost. I"m level 76 and looking to push to 80 and do some light raiding after that.

For mages there's little point to dual spec unless you like to pvp and do pve as well. I don't pvp myself, but I hear frost is really good at 80 for that. If you're not sure what to do for a spec, check out the sticky, there's lots of good information there.

Like Pigtails said, if you plan on doing PvE and PvP then there's your two specs. If you don't PvP then most people set up a arcane PvE spec and a frostfire or fireball PvE spec. Our guild mages switch between the two quite often in 25 man Ulduar.

If your not going to PvE then you can set up PvP frost and PvP arcane like I do. It's nice to change around from time to time depending on what teams I seem to be facing often.

I am strictly a raiding mage, when i pvp it is on my druid. I raid as deep fire (19-52-0) and use frost/torment as my second spec. This helps in a few Ulduar encounters such as xt-002(even prenerfs frost made the adds trivial) and will be a big help in Iron Council when doing Molgeim last.

I went for a Full Frost Solo/AOE build and my raiding build - which at this time is Arcane/Frost.

I eventually will switch to FFB Raiding, but just don't have anything serious ATM.

Does anyone actually AoE grind anymore? I thought that went out of style with bell bottoms.

For levelling aoe grinding does seem to be dead for the most part. I know one guy who's doing it, but he's only doing because he's totally burnt out on questing.

As for farming, it is still as massively awesome as it always was :D
