With all the new upcoming changes to the hunter class, I ask myself if I should stick with engineering or switch over to JC. When I first started my hunter, I really wanted to go with engineering because of all the fun gadgets and the scopes/bullets you could make. However, with the new possible changes to range weapons, will these creatable bullets/arrows be obsolete? Maybe I am missing something but end game engineering seems to be loosing its lust fast. And although this isn't a big deal, but when blizzard took away the "Slight increase to detect stealth" from my Sure strike Goggles v2.0, I died a little inside.

"The googles!! They do NOTHING!"

So should I switch over to JC or just stick with engineering for now?

For me trades are not about making profit but to be useful to either my alts or my guild , if i can assume you are in a guild i would be asking myself if there is someone that already has the JC trade at top level , if so then you could do as many in my guild do and just make a profit and supply mats to those at high level JC to create things for you which only means you miss out on any self only trade items , and as a hunter there are not many items that are that great on stats in either engineering or JC that cannot be equalled from high level instances/raids .

JC is probably more profitable at the highest levels but i am watching prices on my servers getting lower as more are reaching the high level cuts on gems so am not so sure if the cost of mats to level up JC will outweigh the end level profits or not , my choice would be stick to what you already have as i bet there will be new stuff in engineering soon anyway.

There was a thread on the general forum linking to a blue post talking about an incoming JC nerf--you might want to check that out before you make up your mind.

I just saw that too. I think I'm just going to stick with engineering for now. Hopefully they will open up some new items.

I'm facing the same question with my paladin. Once I grab a 213 headpiece will I have any reason to continue engineering? My only hope is that if I hold out on engineering it'll receive a buff in the future...maybe?

Welcome to the skillz of Leatherworking..... you make items that are not even equal to heroics....(for hunters at least)

At least the bullets/arrows are worth something, its just a little more DPS but every little helps. I'm thinking a new flying mount might come into play (no it wont). A mechanical dragon mount that can carry two other people.....
