Destro post 3.1.2Follow

Spooky. I was using 3/13/55 from 3.1.1 - because its FUN to play.

Still using it now. Achieving 13k crits in 5 mans on a consistent basis, assume I do the same in raids, but I don't look at my damage in raids, would rather finish alive and victorious!

Destro is the dogs.

I've done a few more heroics with the 3/13/55 build and seem to have 1 problem in every run. I pull agro half the time, just casting what I thought was a good rotation:

Corruption > Immolate > Conflagrate > Chaos Bolt > Incinerate spam

Redo DOTs, if needed.

Usually when I get to Chaos Bolt, I've pulled the agro off the tank.

yeah destro is an aggro *****... massive amounts of burst damage so burst threat... nothing much you can do other than pick better tanks when doing heroics but if it's really that much of an issue... go demo for 5mans, 'tis the lowest threat spec.

If you don't want to change your PvE spec you can always adjust you rotation based on your tank. If your pugging you'll run into some tanks that you will pull aggro off of all the time and some that no matter what you do you can't get aggro. If your pulling aggro right away try throwing a corruption and curse of agony on the mob before Immolate, or do chaos bolt before Conflag. It's not gunna get you the best dps, but sometimes all the tank needs to gain and keep aggro is that 1 or 2 global cool-downs.

One thing pugging teaches you is to be flexible, to adjust your playstyle based on the others in the group. While pumping out the most dps is ideal sometimes you'll run into tanks that just can't handle it, be it gear or ability, and it's better to watch your aggro and let the mob stay on the tank than to become too dps oriented and turn every pull into a cluster.

Whenever I go in with a tank I don't know I go very soft on the first pack or two of mobs to see how his aggro is and base my rotation on that the rest of the run.

Hey all

I just would like some advice for a friend's warlock. She is currently Aff specced and I feel for her gear level she should be doing more than 4k dps. Here is her armoury. Would she benefit from a change to Destro?

she would benefit from going destro, the 3/13/55 spec with glyph of conflag, incinerate and lifetap. tbh she should be doing more than 4k dps as affliction with that gear.. talents look ok though not optimal, for affliction she should use this spec, 53/0/18 with glyphs of lifetap, haunt and CoA. she should use her succubus as it'll be the highiest dps pet for her other than doomguard or inferno < 1min remaining on boss.

for rotation... SB > haunt > Corruption > CoA > UA and then just shadowbolt spam inbetween.. renewing haunt,CoA and UA whenever they're about to wear off and replacing SB with drain soul when the boss is below 25% health.. doing this with her gear she should be looking at 4-4.5k dps on the dummy... 5-5.5k on bosses with little movement easily... but if she goes destro should should do up to 500 more dps as it is the top dpsing spec currently.

I hate pvp, so I'd have 2 pve specs. One for raids and heroics and one for just dailies. Though I haven't tried the destro yet, so who knows, I may just stick with it for anything I do.

Since the maintenance is finally done, I'm gonna go get the dual spec now and try out destro.

Everyone has an opinion but I kind of live the Destro Raid Build with a Demon PVE Daily build, however some seem to like the Afflict Daily build if they are on a PvP Server.

I use both the standard cookie cutter builds and if I seem to be pulling too much of the Aggro off the MT I normally just wait till they get a couple more swings in at first to more threat built up and keep half an eye on the threat meter. If I start climbing to high on the meter I hold back a little on the DPS and wait till the MT builds some more. However I do mostly do all my raiding with my guild and we have constant problems getting enough guild bodies for 25s so they become partial Pugs a lot and we haven'r progressed in the 25 well because of it.
