While people can be carried, if you know the fight and are able to do Emalon then you will be able to get the achievement. It's simply a quick way to filter those who are unable to do the fight.

Absolutely not. All the achievement shows is that you've been present when Emalon was killed, and there is no requirement for you to actually be alive when that happens. You can die thanks to your own stupidity and NOT having the slightest clue about the fight in the first seconds, and still have 9 or 24 people carry your sorry *** to the achievement. You can do absolutely everything wrong, have crappy dps, and it just won't show anywhere.

And it's not like the Emalon fight is overly sophisticated. It doesn't require any more attention really than Archavon or any other heroic boss, yet nobody ever wants to see an achievement there. (But we'll get there soon I guess).

It doesn't matter how many times you killed that sucker with a bazillion alts - you'll find yourself hard pressed to find a group willing to take you with a character that doesn't have that idiotic achievement, so it doesn't really matter how easy it would actually be to get - if you were already IN that instance.

Interesting enough, if you come across those achievement ***** in a heroic group, it's usually THEM you find at the bottom of dps charts, having to ask for boss tactics, or simply being plain stupid in general.

I am finding the achievement demands ridiculous. I have never had this problem, but those who look at achievements alone need help. Any good raider will know the fights before even stepping into the raid, whether from first hand experience or research. Not everyone had a 70 ready to go when WotLK came out and were able to hit 80 within a couple of weeks from release. How are those that are just reached 80 a few weeks ago supposed to get these achievements when people are requiring them to even get in?

My two copper.

I find the best way to check is to use the armory.

If you must see an achievement ask for one of the following: Safety Dance, The Undying, The Immortal. Those types are the closet to a stupid check the game has. Stupid sinks groups on Emalon faster than a slightly undergeared toon.

I learnt Emalon by copying whatever my Guild Leader (another Feral) did. We did it after clearing Ulduar and I hadn't read the strat because I wasn't expecting to be doing it and was having enough trouble learning all the Ulduar fights. I didn't die and came top 10 DPS. As long as most people in the group know the fight, you can beat it easily. Same goes for most encounters - there are very few (especially in Naxx) where one idiot can wipe the raid. There are a few, but drilling into the new people the important thing will often get you through.

The Safety Dance achievement is not a good measure at all. I have beaten Heigan so many times in 10 and 25 man and have died twice - once on my first attempt and once while trying to heal a moron who was getting hit every wave. I still do not have that achievement because I had bad guildies - my new guild is much better.

Look on the bright side, without really improving in skill, the teribads will be able to go from 1500 DPS to 1600 DPS, and maybe have enough health to not die immediately due to standing in the fire.

Whoever started this "achievement required" stuff should be hung, drawn, and quartered. What does it show other than having been carried through the content in the worst case?
