Mut Spec levelling Q'sFollow

In between raiding on my Paladin I have been back to levelling up my Mut spec Rogue. 99% of this has been solo questing. Now, at 70, I'm not sure where to go with my talents. I have picked so far what I have thought will enhance my two general solo rotations:
-Against caster type enemies (Ambush, Mut, Kidney Shot, Mut, Envenom) throwing in a kick between stuns to minimise spells taken.
-Against warrior/melee type enemies (Cheap Shot, Mut, Kidney Shot, Mut, Envenom then either spam Envenom or Mut again) throwing in a disarm.

My main focus is questing efficiency through maximising damage dealt while minimising incoming damage. I can see the reasoning for going further down the tree passsed Mut for raiding but from a soloing perspective both Cut to the Chase and Hunger for Blood don't seem worthwhile. Am I way off here? I'm going to swap the points over from TtT to Master Poisoner but before I do I thought I would get some advice from you guys here first.

PS. Any suggestions on weapon enchant upgrades for my heirloom daggers would be much appreciated. Lifestealling and Fiery seem almost worthless now. I wish I could put titanium weapon chains on them =(

Master poisoner is definitely better than TtT at this point for the godly amount of DP stacking. When you're levelling though you should be using wound/wound so it's not a big deal until you instance.

I think your spec looks ok atm, and I agree that while HfB would help you a bit when you're in 5 mans, it's really not going to break your experience atm.

Considering you have full points in CQC you're going to need to pay to respec at 80 anyways, so in the meantime, depending on whether you are on a PVP server, you could consider points in Fleet Footed (movement speed is always nice for questing) or Deadly Brew (crippling mobs while soloing can be nice, as well as being pvp ready)

I wouldn't bother with envenom when questing. I doubt you'd get a full stack of deadly up on a regular mob your level, and evis will probably put out more damage.....considering how short your fights are.

While I know you aren't at 80 yet, this is what I shot for while leveling.....and I was pretty happy with it. But then again, I leveled on a PVP server, so a PVP'ish build always seemed to make more sense.

I remember reading about WP/WP being the way to go a little while back. It is what's on my daggers though I dont remember reading why its picked over DP. I'm levelling on a PvE server so I'll most likely throw those remaining points into Deadly Brew for when I'm fighting humanoids.

Is CQC really a bad talent? I understand that depending on drops you might have to spec out of it but until I pick up an epic sword or mace wouldn't it be better to keep the 5% crit?

From what I can tell the only enchant I can put on those daggers that would be better is probably Crusader (one of the few my Paladin lacks). Is it worth going Crusader or don't bother for now?

CQC is a fantastic talent. It's just that when you switch to a raiding muti spec you'll only have enough points left for 3/5.

WP/WP is choice over DP because it provides more fast burst damage. When you're soloing mobs die fast so there is no time to wait for DP to stack. The reason you pick it over IP for mutilate is because it puts a "sticky" poison on the target which is vital for bigger mutilates. And it applies more frequently.


Edit: Oh, and as far as enchants, honestly I wouldn't bother.

Leveling as Mutilate is all about burst and efficiency. When I did 70-80, this is what I ended up with.

Cheap Shot, Mutiliate, Eviscerate. Mutilate/KS again if you need to. I found only a few mobs needed a short Kidney Shot to keep down. Be sure your quest mobs are stunned as much as possible. Parry and dodge talents are inefficient and require more eating/bandages. You should generally not need them.

WP/WP because quest mobs shouldn't be living long enough to stack DP. WP also counts for Master Poisoner (which is far better as a questing talent over Tables). AND it hits more often in shorter bursts.

When leveling I usually only enchanted weapons that I knew I'd be keeping for 8-10 levels. Otherwise I wouldn't bother.

While I'm only level 60, I'm wondering why you're missing Remorseless Attacks? Starting out with multiple combo points seems awesome. Also, why no fleet footed? Moving faster = less travel time = faster leveling. Relentless Strikes in Subtlety is also amazing. It lets you basically do a Mut/CS opener, Mutilate, Eviscerate, mutilate, and eviscerate again, all before Overkill drops (so within 5 seconds). No green enemy should survive that. I also really like Camouflage in Subtlety, because fights almost always last less than 10 seconds. Master of deception isn't really all that needed as long as you watch where you're going.

So, assuming you have 10 points left, I would go with:

2/2 Fleet footed
2/2 remorseless attacks
5/5 Relentless Strikes
1/3 Master Poisoner

I confused Therion's talent build and the one linked by NorthenRebel and missed out on both Remorseless Attacks and Relentless Strikes! Curse not having turned on my preview mode before picking my talents! I might justhave to stick with the mess I have made now and fill in the gaps >_<

Actually, I should have noted that in the build I linked in my reply, I ended up moving points to Dirty Tricks from Remorseless at one point for BGs, but regretted it for questing. Sorry about that. Here's the fixed questing version.

All good. Like I said in my first post I haven't played my Rogue for quite some time so the respecc fee is still relatively low compared to some of my other characters!

Crap, you're right.

I missed adding in remorseless, which is amazing for a leveling muti-build (but not so amazing for anything else).

Just thought I'd post an update. Up to 75 now and this Rogue is doing some crazy burst damage. The +4k Eviscerate crits at level 75 are unbelieveable. When I get a chance to run some dungeons I usually stand 1st on boss fight dps but drop to 2nd or 3rd on overall dps. I assume this is mostly due to the lack of aoebility that I have right now. I try and use an Ambush, Mut, Evis, Mut, Mut, Evis style of rotation on the first trash mob but by the second or third mob I'm usually left with Mut, Evis, Mut, Evis combos.

As far as Poisons go is it worth sticking with WP/WP the whole way through an instance? Should I swap in DP/DP or WP/DP for boss fights?

I just picked up that aggro dropping spell (Tricks of the Trade?). Is it worth creating a /cast [target=targettarget,help] TotT macro so I can offload the threat on the tank at the start of boss fights or should this spell be used some other way?
