How useful are Warrior in 3.x?Follow

#1 May 17 2009 at 7:50 PM Rating: Decent
I recently started playing after a ~5 month break to my one and only lvl 60 warrior. I am currently 66 and am having trouble figuring out what warriors are still good for?

In PvP if there's not at least 2 other people with me I get owned by a DK, any and all.

In instances I've run so far, a DK has tanked every one and has topped me on my damage charts almost every time.

So, is it just me? Or have warriors lost their use?

Here's my armory incase it makes any difference, because maybe it is just me XD:

Warriors still have their uses. From my brief examination of your character I'd say that with some new gear at your level (level 40-something wrists???) and a possible respec (Fury is the weakest of the specs in my humble opinion) you should still be able to hold your own. The trouble with having DKs tanking is that while some of them do a very good job, more DKs than any other race seem to be idiots and can cause no end of problems. A well played character of any class is more welcome than a e-peen stroker. Learn to play your warrior well and you will be a benefit to any group, be it dungeon, raid or pvp. You will still find that people looking for a tank for a PuG will inevitably ask warriors before DKs, paladins or druids (this may drive you insane after a while). Slap in a few of the minor glyphs as well as every little counts.

Wowwiki:
'Warriors tanks are best for tanking melee bosses with a lot of attack speed and low damage per hit. This is because it makes healing more smooth, and warriors are effective in avoiding melee hits.
Paladins also favor melee hits over spells.
Deathknights are best for tanking spell casting bosses because they have spell damage reduction cooldowns. Malygos for example casts frost breath that hits hard, a deathknight can pop his cooldowns and avoid all that spell damage.
Druids are best at tanking burst damage bosses because they have huge health pools.'

New content has made DK's more desirable.

You mean PvE? Warrior is the most fun of all tanks and melee IMO.

DPS is as good as any melee class.

Also, aoe tank DPS is generally up to par with DPSers in heavy-aoe environment because they do constant AoE attacks to hold AoE aggro. But they don't do much focus-fire DPS which is needed on bosses, otherwise all dps classes would be removed and runs would be 4 tanks + healer.
