Well my DK is slowly leveling his way up through the Outlands. I just hit level 67 last night and I am only 1/2 way through my 3rd area (Terokkar Forest) and I haven't even touched an instance. The lower XP to level is just insane, but thats another topic.

So I was just wondering what you guys did with your DK's. Did you stick around the Outlands a little longer or did you run off to Northrend the second you hit 68. Speaking of that, I am able to go to Northrend at 68 just as you are able to go to the Outlands at 58 right?

Anyway, I'm leaning towards running to Northrend the second I hit 68 and never looking back. I think it will be nice to actually use some of the quest rewards in the first couple zones of Northrend, though I am interested to see how I perform while jumping from killing level 63-64 mobs in Terokkar to level 70 in Borean.

Also, when did you buy your flying mount skills? Since I won't really be able to use my flying mount until later on in Northrend, I was thinking of just holding off on buying the skills until I can buy them all at once

Personally I just did a 'highlights' tour of Outlands. I skipped a lot of the content that was annoying on my first playthrough and just did the questlines I enjoyed. Then at 68, the only part of me left in Outland was the cloud of dust I left as I zoomed over to Northrend.

Outland quests were fun the first time round, tolerable the second, but my DK was my third and the content had long since worn thin.

I didn't bother picking up flying mount skill until I could also get Cold Weather Flying at the same time. My thinking at the time was maybe it'd give me time to also save enough gold for epic flight. It didn't, but if I'm not going back to Outland anyway, what's the point in being able to fly there?

I went at 68. I'll get around to getting OL Loremaster and the rep achievements some day...

[EDIT]

Wrong number.

I waited until I was 70, and from that point on I just mowed through everything. Adding to the fun was doing Borean Tundra first THEN Howling Fjord; I'd suggest that, you get an awesome Axe that's on par with one Prince drops; excluding the agility bonus, the stats are the same. This will last you until the Ampitheater quests.

I bought the flier at 70, then got epic flying later at 80, but I did get CW Flying at 77; it's a huge gain to be able to do the Icecrown dailies.

I did Borean on my hunter and Howling Fjord on my Lock....I'm never touching the Howling Fjord again, just didn't like the set up and it seemed way too scattered to me. I'm not an achievement junky, so I could really care less about doing something for the achievement.

I will definitely get my regular flyer at 77 along with cold weather flying. I doubt I will have enough gold for the epic at that point, especially since my DK is my main on this server (stupid friends all of a sudden wanting to go from Alliance to Horde on a different server!!!!!!)

What is this Axe you mentioned...please don't tell me its in Howling:(

I believe that this is the axe that BillyRay and KTurner are referencing.

I am in a similar position to you. My DK is level 66 and has completed all of Hellfire and Zangarmarsh and is currently questing in Blades Edge. The plan is to hit Northrend as soon as I hit level 68. This is my 6th toon through Outlands and as was previously mentioned, the repetition does get to you.

It is a bit of a jump to Northrend, as I recently discovered with my priest. He went at 68 and struggled initially until he had acquired some of first few quest rewards. I can surmise though, as a DK, it shouldn't be as tough as it was for my squishy Undead.

Actually went to HF to train my first aid and killed some stuff while I was there at 67. It wasn't too hard but not being able to get any quests was a drag so I finished 67 in outland. I left the moment I hit 68. Haven't bothered with any kind of mount since the charger is free and fast.

A DK at 68 is more than a match for Northrend's opening quests, believe me. I'd surmise that a confident DK could go to Northrend at 67 or 66, if he was so inclined (and had a friendly mage/warlock to get him there, of course)...

I took my DK to Northrend ASAP. Like many other posters that toon was my third through Outlands, and I wanted to try out my shiny new character class against the baddies in the North. Better XP, better quest rewards, new content I hadn't tromped through before... what would have kept me in Outlands?

And, as posted previously, go to BT and do the quest chain to get the Axe of Frozen Death. Either faction's quest chain can be a bit of a pain, but they're well worth doing (and not really that bad). That axe's awesome. :)

The quest axe from BT is very nice indeed. I picked it up and it's my primary weapon. Don't overlook the polearm that is purchasable from the murlocs on the northwest coast, though. Complete their quests and gather 50 clams (from mobs and ground spawn) and you can get a very nice polearm useful for working on that weapon skill or using as your primary weapon until you get the axe.

Oh, and for the record, I went to Outland at 63 or 64 with my DK, tore up Hellfire (I mean tore...it...up), blazed through Zangarmarsh, and did a little bit of Blade's Edge Mountains and Netherstorm (stopping briefly in Nagrand to get the axe from the ring of blood event). Once I dinged 70 I purchased flight skill and went to Borean Tundra. Did most of the quests there and then hit up Howling Fjord to see what it was like. I much prefer BT over HF (for a DK at least). Currently level 75 and still have tons to see. Tons!

Good hunting. /salute

From 68 went straight to Northrend, the eXp/per kill is better and the quest eXP is way better, usually if youre leveling characters now, 58-60, and 68-70 are the fastest youll ever see your character level cause of the new zones.

When i did my dk to 80, i also made sure i had the heirloom shoulders for the extra exp and everytime we took WG, that meant log onto my DK and thats more experience baby.

Gimme that EXP!!!

and you can rent a slow mount for a small fee at X-3

Went to Outland at level 58.

After having done all of Helfire Peninsula, a handful of quests in Zangarmarsh and almost half of Terrokar, I dinged level 68 and went to Northrend.

I'm now done with Borean Tundra and halfway through Howling Fjord, and I'm level 73.

As I've mentioned in other posts here, I took the LOONG way around.

After I got out of the DK newbie area, the first thing I did was go around pretty much the whole Old World and look for "breadcrumb" quests that point you to other cities/zones and did all of those. I did that so that those breadcrumbs would be counted for the Loremaster achievement with no chance that I would do the actual quest the breadcrumb was leading me to and thus lose my access to the breadcrumb quest. Note, however, that I did NOT do the quest the breadcrumb led me to. Once I turned in the breadcrumb quest, I left and came back for the actual quest later.

THEN I went to Elwynn and started in Northshire Abbey with the newbie quests. Once those were done, I did the same in Dun Morogh. I then worked my way up zone by zone in Eastern Kingdoms, from the lowest level zones to the highest level, consulting WoWhead and a couple "easy to miss quests" guides as I did so to be sure I was being thorough. By the time I was done in Eastern Kingdoms, I had Loremaster of EK done, and I was exalted with everyone in the Alliance except Exodar and Gnomergan (I could've had Gnomer except that I didn't do the Gnomergan instance quests because 1) they don't count toward Loremaster and 2) I despise Gnomergan even when I'm high enough level to make it trivial.) I also ran Strat and Scholo a number of times and wound up exalted with Argent Dawn.

Then I went to Kalimdor and did the same thing, starting with Teldrassil and Azuremyst and working my way up. I had my Ambassador title before I was finished in Ashenvale. By the time I was finished in Silithus, I was lvl 66 or 67, had Loremaster of Kalimdor done, was exalted with Timbermaw and Cenarion Circle, and was revered with all four Steamwheedle Cartel factions.

Once I hit Outlands, I decided I wasn't going to worry about hitting exalted reps with anyone who didn't have non-instance dailies or item turn-ins to do. Again, I started in Hellfire and worked my up. I used the Loremaster achievements as a gauge for how thorough I was being in my questing, but if there were soloable quests left over after Loremaster was done, I finished them as well. I didn't worry too much about group quests or instances or loot, because I was so high level quest rewards and loot really weren't relevant to me. I'd have a blacksmith friend of mine make me some armor once in a while to upgrade and that was about it. By the time I finally finished in SMV, I was 77.

So...I started Borean Tundra at 77, I'm not 79 and still working my way through Howling Fjord. As someone pointed out before, the money I'm going to be making off quest rewards for almost all of Northrend is going to be incredible, since I'll likely be 80 before I get to Dragonblight.

After starting my DK I first focussed on leveling my professions - the three secondary ones and herbalism/mining - and getting the exploration achievements for the Old World. I did a bunch of Old World quests and was level 62 before I started questing in the Outlands.

After doing HFP, Zanger and some Nagrand and Terokkar I hit 70 last week. I have started doing the odd Northend quests - especially the fishing and cooking dailies - but have continued to so some Netherstorm quests. The reason? I never did any with my other two characters.

I'll move to Northend for good once I hit 71.

Well I ran off to Borean Tundra the second I hit 68 and I am loving it. One, I am actually able to use the quest rewards, unlike when my semi-geared 70's went there when WotLK first came out. Also, the quest reward upgrades are huge upgrades instead of a +1 strength, +2 sta, +1 crit or something along those lines. Its more like +20 strength, +30 sta, +20 crit rating which makes me feel kinda funny.....like when climbing the rope in gym class.

Anyway, thanks for all of the replies. Now I WTB levels.

Went to Northrend as soon as I could at 68, 5th time through Outland so wasn't bothered about seeing too much of it. Waited until I could get my cold weather flying before getting my mount.
