Predatory Strikes....Follow

Is this talent broken? I saw no change in my attack power. I know its a pretty bad talent. (Lv 25 + 1 Rank of PS= 12.5 atk power increase) Math experts and Druid Gurus are welcome to show me the light.

Get all 3 ranks and a weapon not from Azeroth.

Then ask.

PS is a great talent.

Gives me a good chunk of AP. Roughly 300ish.

So ya, don't worry it works.

Your weapon has like what 55 AP and you're level 25 with only 1 rank of the talent so it does for you suck. Its about scaling. The talent scales with your weapon, weapons in Northrend/Outland have way higher FAP and have AP on the weapon so it does way more then. The boost for now is still decent compared to other stuff you can get at your level.

Since base shapeshifted damage for bears and cats scales as you level (up to 60), I believe Azeroth weapons don't give Feral Attack Power. This is why Feral Druid weapons were always refered to as stat-sticks. It doesn't matter what the top-end, low-end, or DPS value is on the weapon. A level 25 mace "of the tiger" would be better for DPS than a level 50 "of the whale". Starting with TBC, Blizzard realized how broken that was for druid scaling. To give us any kind of scaling damage, we would need massive amounts of stats on our weapons, and no one else could benefit from this or it would throw other classes out of sync.

Enter Feral Attack Power. Now there is a stat on some weapons that only benefits feral druids, and allows them to improve their DPS by getting better weapons. Now in WotLK, Blizzard is trying to make more gear available to more people. Every BC/WotLK has a hidden stat that only druids can see, Feral Attack Power. That nice spear that used to be for hunters that's loaded with Agi/AP can also be used by druids. At the same time, the nice staff with Agi/AP that used to be for druids is a valid hunter weapon.

TL:DR. It's a good talent now, it's a better talent around level 58 when you get BC gear, and it's a pre req for other talents. It's worth the talent points.

Didn't they fix it so that even Azerothian weapons will give you FAP now?

Thought I saw it some time ago in some patch notes.

They should since FAP is based off weapon DPS now.

(DPS-55)*14 = FAP

So if his weapon is less than or barely over 55, he will have next no FAP. Which will make PS seem very crappy.

edit: wrote formula backwards

Functionally the same thing. No Azeroth green will have a DPS value of 55 or higher, and only level 60 Azeroth blues will have enough DPS to give any FAP. Epics might start around level 55, if there were any level 55 2-handed Azeroth epics. The closest is a level 57 epic that should give around 50 FAP.

to be fair, even before the changes to PS it was still worth it just to get heart of the wild. HotW is quite honestly one of the best talents in game, and was a godsend for ferals back when it was implemented.
