I decided to toy around with an Anialation bild with the Frost tree shufling I came up with http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#jf0MZG0x0hZfM0Ixcdxcq0c0ut, which is missing a talent or two I have in my current build. Is this raid viable, or did i get excited for nothing?

It's viable, if you don't want to have any talent synergy and don't mind losing DpS for no reason.

A. You have a TON of talents that boost your SSs. One easy example? First tier Unholy--Vicious Strikes. It boosts your SS' crit by 6%, and the damage on a crit by 30%. Outbreak boosts SS damage by 20%. Black Ice increases its damage, because it is Shadow.

B. Part of Unholy's single-target system is to try and keep disease-causing abilities out of your rotation, without losing the actual DoTs. SS glyph helps this and boosts DpS by quite a bit whenever it procs (well, it doesn't really increase DpS at all when it procs twice per disease cycle than if it procced once, but whatever). Oblit doesn't do this. You'll have to PS and IT every 20 seconds. They will do less damage, combined, than a SS.

C. Desecration. Why even bother taking it without SS? You'll only PS every 20 seconds (if you don't use Glyph of disease to remove it from your rotation all-together). That means you'll only have the bonus from it 60% of the time, if you are ALWAYS in the AoE. 5% DpS does not make up for the loss of the extra damage from a SS over PS+IT. And Glyph of Sisease (lose a BS to gain an Oblit) means you never benefit from this after the initial strike).

D. No Bone Shield. Why bother with Desecration, which is about 2.5% DpS with your build, if you ALWAYS stand in it, but not take Bone Shield, which is a guaranteed 2% DpS and/or mitigation of AoE damage.

E. No WP. It is a huge DpS boost on AoE situations, and still very decent on single targets.

F. No Bladed Armor. This means: Your Garg does less DpS. Your BB does less DpS. Your IT does less DpS. Your UB does less DpS. Your DC does less DpS. Your auto-attacks do less DpS.

G. Oblit isn't that good now. With the glyph and your talents, it is only 100% weapon damage + 467 *25% with +9% crit, as physical damage. SS is something like 68% Weapon damage + 534.5 * 33%, with an additional 6% crit and 30% crit damage, and it has 1/4 probability to reset disease timers, meaning you have a 3/4 chance per rotation to not have to use IT+PS again, but rather SS.

If your weapon has a mid-range of 600, then Oblit would do 1334 damage, approx.

The same weapon would produce SSs of 1253.535. But, it also has the 30% crit, and you get more of them than Oblits (approximately 3 more every four rotations if the RNG likes you a normal amount). Furthermore, you can then take Bladed Armor, to increase your Garg and UB/DC damage. And you can get the buff from Desecration all the time.

Just not worth it. Oh yeah, and if your weapon isn't as good, then SS can actually do MORE damage, because it has the higher additive.
