What to do if your guildlessFollow

#1 May 11 2009 at 7:01 PM Rating: Default
I recently had the misfortune to be kicked out of my long time raiding guild by my guild master. I have been hunting for almost a month now and the guilds never want to take DKs, spare the n00b ones that dont even have enough 80's for a heroic. Should I keep hunting, or is it time to revive my old TBC mage and grind levels and gear all over again?

sooooooo why were you kicked? If it was for something bad, I would imagine all of the top guilds already know about you and won't let you join.

So either transfer servers or change to your mage.

Zebug is right, to an extent. If you were kicked for something more than a difference of opinion, word may have traveled to other guilds lowering your chances of finding a new spot without joining a lower guild and waiting for them to catch up.

If, however, you left on somewhat good terms (though, being kicked isn't exactly great), you may still have a chance. Answer calls for guild PuGs, and do your absolute best and don't be greedy. If you make a good impression, you may earn a spot.

You're a tank, no? This may increase your chances, as guilds will commonly recruit geared tanks for their secondary groups. It'll take you a while to work your way into the main 25 man though. You'll have to contend yourself with 5 or 10 man Ulduar, at best. Hell, you may even have to tank some Naxx 25 mans for a guild already in Ulduar 25s.

What is your gear level anyway?

Standard advice for anyone looking for a raid spot:

A good, responsible, non-flake player is a hard thing to find. If you pug enough heroics or easy raids and prove yourself to not like the taste of windows, ask around after the instances. Show up prepared, do a good job, stay out of doomfire/voidzones/flame wreath, and don't act like an *** and you'll get invites.

Also, don't be shy about joining a good raiding guild as a "social" or "alternate". Be sure if you do to show up at raid times fully prepared to join if a spot is open.

Good luck.

I'll be the $%@& of the thread. You play an overpopulated class, and one whose role in a raid is either A.) least desired (melee dps) or B.) least needed number wise (tank). Your choices are extremely limited. You can try to join a guild that you're overgeared for, try to join a guild you're undergeared for, or try to make friends in a guild and get in that way.

What do you do then?

If you love DK, stay guildless and run pugs with established guilds. Go balls out in everything you do, have every consumable imaginable, have gear enchanted with the best in the game, and know the fights better than the raid leader. Be the best DK in the raid, whether you're the best geared or not. If you are anything less than the absolute best, then you are just wasting your time.

If you are only so-so about playing a DK, reroll. I imagine that you, like many DKs out there, played a class few wanted (how many times have you seen the phrase "full on DKs"?) without having the attitude of playing a class that few wanted. If you don't earn your spot in a guild by being one of the elite players on the server, then you need to choose a class that either fewer people play, or that are more needed in raids.

Unfortunately, that is not going to help you get into a good guild. You are really best off just joining one you out-gear. If your time is that limited, progression isn't even an option for you right now. No one is going to give you a piece of gear if you refuse to use it to its best capability.
