I find that sometimes it doesn't return to me when my target dies. It's happened three or four times now over an hour or so.

At first I thought it was because the mob died before the spell effect could run out. Maybe they had changed the tooltip or something. However, I tried casting Haunt on a critter and it returned instantly, so I'm really at a loss here. Perhaps the spell animation just didn't trigger. I'll take a closer look at my combat log the next time it happens.

Anyone experienced the same or am I missing something?

I've never noticed it but I don't really pay much attention to the animation.

The spell doesn't have to run it's full course to get the return. I regularly throw a Haunt just as a mob is about to die and then LT right before the return hit's me to top off for the next pull. Need to pay attention to your distance and timing to pull this off though.

Meh, I've cast Haunt on a critter and gotten the dmg returned as life...but double. Maybe I'm getting the ones you miss Maz...

Now this one I have noticed. I have seen Haunt throw up the same number of healing twice upon return. I have never seen it not return life though. I'll keep an eye out for it though.

I think it might be a latency issue. I'm running at 100ms give and take, but perhaps if you fire off the Haunt and by the time it reaches the target it's dead on the server but the news hasn't yet reached your client.

Has anyone tried launching a Shadow Bolt at a dying target only to have the mob die before the spell hit it? What happened? On my screen, the Shadow Bolt hit the corpse, but obviously did not damage and applied no debuffs. Now apply a "return to caster if target=dead" function and I'd imagine the debuff would just disappear from the target, without returning to the caster.

As far as I know, Haunt is the only spell with that sort of return mechanic in the game, unless Drain Mana/Life works the same way. I could see why it hasn't been completely debugged yet.

yeah it might be a latency issue. It could also for some reason be your computer. IDK how but i heard that when you have a bad computer bugs happen more often. Luckily for me i have a Samsung with Vista Ultimate =D!

I would assume a target dying with haunt currently on it would count as haunt ending. Not only have I noticed it healing on death, but I've intentionally planned for it. Ever since the spell was introduced.
