Alrighty... here we go:

Regem for Strength. Bold is the cut you're looking for. If you need a couple of blues for a meta qualification, use Sovereign purples. You do not need to put the same color gem in the color of the slot. You can (and generally should) put red Bolds in any gem slot regardless of the slot color... aside from meta requirements.

Those are tanking bracers. Stop that! Get the badge ones instead if the Naxx ones aren't dropping.

Also stop with the PvP gear and enchants. They will not help you in PvE DPS. When I was on a PvP server, I had an instance/group set and a solo set of gear. Learn to love Outfitter.

Get the Sigil of Awareness from the badge vendor (still annoys me that I farmed that thing for so long).

You have no expertise. Look for 6.5% for the dodge cap for raid bosses when attacking from behind. Hit cap is 8% for 2-hand weapon wielders.

Stat goals are, generally speaking: Expertise > Hit > Strength >> AP > ArPen > Crit Rating > Else

Drop the Plague Strike and DnD glyphs in your blood spec. Get DRW and Dark Death.

OMFG your blood spec! Get Sudden Doom like right now. WHAT? No Hysteria???? You are so missing the glorious-ness that is Hysteria + Bloodlust = Super Happy Fun Times.

It's math.

Also, Rune Tap is worthless in PvE raiding (yeah, I hear the flames coming my way....). That's what healthstones are for. I do have to admit though, I grab VB for an added OhSh*t button.

This is my current preferred blood build.

Ummm... other than that keep researching. 3k isn't that hard to reach with some upgrades and a bit of dedication.

Hope that helps and good luck!!!

Some questions about that build:

Why Butchery over Blade Barrier?
I'm guessing because extra runic power generation is better than damage reduction for PvE DPS.

Why Improved Icy Touch over Runic Power Mastery?
I'm guessing because no one else in your raid has it, so you're the primary debuffer.

Why Morbidity and not Blood-Caked Blade?
I'm guessing because of Sudden Death procs and due to Butchery you dump a lot of runic power into Death Coils.

Is this right?

Personally I'm aiming for a build like this.

Yup. Interweaving DCs into your HS spam uses up a lot of juice. Not a ton of use on single-target bosses but great stuff in anything with adds. Think Freya, Thorum, etc. And the only time you're likely to need that kinda damage reduction (which aint' much at 2 points) is if you're wiping the attempt anyway or dying 'cause you ran over a prox bomb. lol

Well, it's a debatable 3 points honestly. We've found it helps a wee bit for the non-DK tanks, and now that Blood uses diseases again you're going to pop IT once every meta-cycle. Those 3 points float between this and BCB for me. RPM I never take in Blood builds due to the interweaving of DCs. It's a very, very rare thing to see a full rune power line on my UI. The added available resource is then wasted. To be clear, BCB is a personal DPS boost but needs to be weighed against your tanks needs. I should have made that more clear.

In all of my parses BCB performed less damage than DCs (as percentage of total output). Ergo: Boost that which is more valuable. But see above for BCB points.

edit: Whoops, forgot to mention that I've found 1 point in Epidemic more than enough to push the disease timers over my entire meta-cycle, even in movement heavy fights (well, maybe not the General) and in Blood Presence. Also of note: I kinda miss CE.... *watery eyes*

Hope that clears it up. Cheers!

=)

Cool, thanks!

I'm horrible at managing rotations, so I usually end up with a full runic power bar. And diseases that run out while my runes are on cooldown. Meh. Any advice on a rotation?

1st rotation:
Plague Strike > Icy Touch > Death Strike > Heart Strike > Heart Strike > Death Strike

2nd rotation
Icy Touch > Plague Strike > Heart Strike x 4

This is why I end up with a full runic power bar. I usually dump it on Dancing Rune Weapon, or Rune Strikes if I'm tanking, but often it's not enough. And I'm wondering if the diseases in the second rotation are needed. Sometimes I'll miss an attack in the first rotation and the diseases will run out before the rune cooldowns are up. Due to the two Death Strikes in the first rotation, I've got two blood and four death runes in the second rotation. I could spam six Heart Strikes, seven with Blood Tap, instead, but I won't get all seven Heart Strikes before the diseases run out, losing some damage on Heart Strike.

Suggestions?

Well... I usually start with IT while moving toward the target so that by the time the global is ready I'm in position for PS.

The thing I try to do with DCs is to use the global they use up to time the 8.5 sec rune refresh. I tend to treat runes as if they were pairs generally. Thinking of them that way makes for little spots where DCs can fit. So it might go something like IT, PS, DS, DC, HS, HS, DC... for example. With a slight stall that puts 3 sec between each rune "pair." Which I try to use for the refresh.

Not sure if that makes any sense whatsoever. This practice started with my trying to "bust up" the standard rotations to smooth them out. After all, as you note, it's easy to fill up on rune power and waste potential RP gains. Overall seems to work great (and I love watching rogues and mages complain about our being OP, lawlers!) and really helps with some of Blood's quirks.

Oh, and you're macroing all your stuff together right? No need to blow more GCDs than you need to!

If you're tanking try this one:
/cast Death Strike
/cast Rune Strike

RS doesn't eat up a GCD (acts just like warriors' Heroic Strike) so you can just blow it whenever it's off its cooldown. Trust me, macro that into a couple of abilities and you'll never see a full RP bar again!

thanks for the help.one more question for you im having trouble finding gear upgrades in 5 man heroic ive not made it into naxx yet because i cant pug a group for it. i was wanting to join a raiding guild but they seem to only want maxed out players.im on the whisperwind server does anyone know any guilds that would help me get into naxx and get better gear. thanks

I used to do this, but I found it frequently screwed my dps over, and was even worse when tanking. It automatically used RP without any input from me which messed me up if I was trying to save it (say for a tanking CD while tanking or to use DRW while dpsing). I put rune strike in my #1 hot bar spot and got rid of all the macros that used it automatically and my dps and tanking ability went up. I'm not going to tell you that you're a bad DK if you continue to do this, but you will be a better DK if you manually control it rather than letting a macro do it for you.

You're trying to join established raiding guilds as the least needed and least desired spot in a raid (melee dps). There are fights that the less melee you have, the easier it gets (ie. KT). On top of that you're seeking to join guilds that already clear the content, but want them to carry you through it to gear you up. If you continue down that path, you will be searching for a long, long time. I am the guild recruiter of a fairly decent (8/14 bosses) Ulduar guild and so I come across people like you all the time. If you're having trouble getting a pug to take you, start your own pug and lead it. If you're the leader, obviously you will go. Either do that, or join a guild (or start one!) of people geared similarly to you and start fresh working on naxx and slowly work your way up. Spending time trying to find an established guild to carry an under-geared melee dps is a waste of time, unless the guild has a friend of yours in it and they get you in.

Not necessarily. Well, the only reason you should ever be doing this is if tanking, and most specs don't use large RP Dumps. I'm deep Unholy right now, but don't bother with Gargoyle because you have to sacrifice a lot of threat for it.

I don't personally macro my RSs. But I can't say there is any reason NOT to. Especially because your different specs use different hot bars, so I don't have to worry about it ******** up.

And, as a DpS, you shouldn't have RS lit up anyway.

It is really a matter of choice. Neither is superior, but macroing it means you don't have to worry about it.

Rune Strike is rarely available when I'm playing the DPS role, because it only triggers off of incoming attacks, right? Shouldn't get much of those as DPS. And I always keep my left eye on the runic power meter. When it reaches top, I pop Dancing Leprechaun and spank the *** off the monkey.

At my current level, Heart and Death Strike crits for about 3,000 depending on armor class and Rune Strike crits for up to 3,800. Hardly a waste of runic power, especially considering my Death Coils only crit for 1700ish.

Until I find an addon that informs me somewhere on the center of my screen that Rune Strike is available, I'm not removing macros. I spent way too much time staring at the right side of my action bars for the icon to ever do that again.

Call me lazy, but after I macroed Rune Strike, I'm using it about 200% more often.

Uhm, Death and Decay isn't macroed either, but yeah, pretty much.

Heart Strike, Death Strike, Icy Touch, Plague Strike, Rune Tap, Chains of Ice, Pestilence, Horn of Winter.. oh, I guess Blood Tap isn't macroed either. And Anti-Magic Shell.

It's in your in game options, they added it awhile ago. Reactive ability message or something like that. I'll double check when I log in.

RS shouldn't be used as DPS because of the added threat value. If you do accidentally pull agro and trigger RS, you're just going to make the problem worse.

Edit: Found it Options -> Interface -> Combat Text -> Enable floating combat text: Reactive Spells & Abilities

Holy crap, I spent a couple of minutes searching through Death Knight talents and spells to find IBF. Icebound Fortitude has its own macro which also pops Unbreakable Armor when I'm running with my Frost spec.

Damn, I knew the tooltip said something important. This would explain why I have such an easy time keeping aggro when I'm tanking, heh. Hmm, well, I'm not going to change my macros yet, because right now I'm doing more PvP and PvE tanking than PvE DPS. Not having to press Rune Strike every few seconds makes my life a lot easier.

There is no point changing your macros until you have content on farm and have great gear, so you can lose some threat in favor of higher DpS (like going to summon a Garg or DRW, multiple FSs in seconds, etc).

For that, I would probably go to your realm forum on the O-Boards. You'll have an easier time finding a guild that'll suit your needs.
