EoE Tanking TipsFollow

I watched the videos from tankspot. I've read the fights on Boss Killers. I have more than enough gear to do it...

I'm looking for some tips on getting the Sparks to land properly and double stack. I realize that this is largely dependant on the DK who has been charged with DG'ing them, but I also know that as the tank it's a major part of my job.

So:

1. Is there any good way to quickly spot the Sparks after landing?
2. Do you always land in a different place than you took off from (After Vortex)
3. Is there any team tactic that I should be using to better tank/kite him? (Do I want to have his *** facing the incoming spark, or does it not matter - so long as he doesn't get close to it?)
4. Is there a way to control the Arcane breath on 25man after you land from Vortex. I mean if people are near me - they are dead and I had some trouble figuring this out...

Thank you in advance.

The sparks are going to spawn from either the NW, NE, SW or SW "corners" of the room. I use corners loosely, since the room is a circle...but you get what i mean.

You should have 1 Dedicated person looking for sparks You want the sparks to be coming towards his ***. So if you are tanking on the north side and a spark spawns from SW or SE you can keep him where he is. If it spawns from NW or NE you have to slowly move him in a huge circle so that you are tanking him on the S end of the room. Its a bit tricky to do at first, and healers have to be on top of you incase you go out of range, but after a few tries you should be able to do it fine.

When you land from vortex, malygos will not breath for a few seconds. Everyone in the raid lands in the center of the platform. So before vortex, the person i mentioned before that is calling out where the sparks are coming from needs to watch, there will always be a spark spawned right before a vortex cast. So if the spark spawns at the NE corner. When everyone lands from vortex, you entire raid runs NE 5-10 yards, and you take malygos to the opposite corner (in this case it would be SW). This will happen every Vortex landing.

So whether you have to move him is solely dependant on your luck, you could get sparks from the same general direction (NE or NW) or (SW or SE) and not really have to move him at all.

Its not required to have a DK DG the sparks, infact if your DK can save his CD for when a Spark spawns in a bad place (if you are tanking him facing NW and it spawns NE) rather then move him, you can have the DK DG it into the middle. Ive done maly several times with no DKs at all, its 100% doable, just slightly more challenging.

If i missed anything, i apologize, i am only the Holy Paladin :-p. But i think i covered most of it, and answered your questions. Good Luck.

I do almost none of ^that.

1: The spotter (probably an off tank) should be looking for them constantly.
2: Yes
3: I don't move him at all, all fight. I just have the DKs pull the sparks to the tail, immediately chain them in place and kill them. Works fine, every time, without the clunky crap of trying to kite a huge *** dragon aspect in a circle.
4: As soon as we land from the vortex I move directly North and all of the raid moves South and comes back to stack on the tail. Minimal loss of DPS and no chance of getting breathed in the face.

Hunters can track those sparks (elementals if I remember right) and click map.

when tanking the boss, in the vortex i watch for the spark, and move the boss in the opposite direction, since i'm doing it 99% with the guild, i also announce on ventrilo
the dk help is welcomed, but there are times when no dk is online / unsaved for it, so try to learn to position it without any help. in time you'll get use to rotation and the dk help will just allow the raid to stack the sparks, not also to grab any unwanted spark
some tanks keep the boss on the circle and move around, the raid stays in the center and grab any spark or tell the tank to move

Ok, whatever you do, do not move the raid around. The raid should be in the centre all the time. You as a tank should be the only one to move.

DKs are nice to have in this fight, but really, not at all needed, and you as a tank will make sure of that. How? Here's how I do it.

Before I am cast into the air, I look for the next spark and ping on the map where it's coming from. Keep pinging til you land and when you do, run in the opposite direction and turn him sideways, ready to be moved again. The first spark is now en route to your raid. Once you are there, look for the second spark and move accordingly so that the raid, which will not move from the centre, will be in its path. It is this spark, the second one, the one that a DK could pull if you have one, so that the group gets two stacks.

Do this right, and phase one is real easy.

Good luck.
