ArP vs StrengthFollow

I recently read something on another forum that suggested that Arms should be gemming for Armor Penetration over Strength. Any thoughts on this? How much AP from STR is a reasonable sacrifice for ArP? Is there an ArP cap?

Armor pen comes easy with gear, especially when you get into Ulduar. I have not changed out my STR gems for Armor pen, and do about 4k DPS in the first 4 bosses of 10 man Ulduar(minus Flame Leviathan). Armor pen does scale better than attack power for arms, but if you are like me and have adequate gear for a decent fury spec, than keep the STR gems like I did. I only have one set of gear and the str is way better for fury. Some fights can have better output for the raid with the utilities that come with arms spec and some fights call for fury. If money is no object and you don't plan on using the same gear for fury, then it might be advantageous to swap STR gems for Armor pen, as long as you don't lose too much STR, I wouldn't want to go below 3500 AP in arms. Just my .02

Just thought I would note here that I am currently raiding as Fury and have no plans to switch to arms considering that trying to learn a new spec would just put me that much more behind in DPS. I regemmed entirely for ARP and have seen my DPS go up from a pathetic 2500 after the nerf (4K plus before the nerf FYI) to a respectable 3K-3.2K depending on the fight (was at 2900 on Razorscale last night). The ARP for Fury was god like and I will stick with my ARP gems until I get at least 500 ARP strictly from gear. I had 21 ARP (yes I said 21) before the nerf. I now have 220 ARP unbuffed, 280 ARP from food and potions. Almost all plate DPS gear in Ulduar has ARP so with a little luck and a trip back into NAxx for Grim Toll and I will be back to hitting like a mac truck.

I refuse to allow Blizz to dictate to me how I should spec my toon. I have put a crap load of work into my Fury warrior and no amount of nerfing from Blizz will make the past 2 years meaningless.

Edit: Just FYI, I have 4500 AP unbuffed without all my STR gems so I believe the sacrifice in my case was warranted. I believe it strictly is a case by case decision.

Once you hit the armor pen cap, fury will overtake arms again. Right now, its your best dps stat.

And for those of us who don't know what the cap is because we haven't been paying that close attention, what's the number we should be shooting for for ArP?

As far as I know, their isn't a cap for ArP right now. It's a mystery. And Blizz isn't saying much 'truthful' information about it.

(if you read in the general wow forum here you'll find more interesting info about ArP.)

To double post a few things and to just make it easier, look here for elitist jerks information.

'Negative Armor' Values apparently DO exist. Check out Nomepunter's stats. (yes that's RP's warrior).
