Question about damage modifier...

Outbreak
"Increases the damage of Plague Strike by 30% and Scourge Strike by 20%."

Scourge Strike
"Unholy strike that deals 45% weapon damage as Shadow damage plus 357.188, total damage increased by 11% per each of your diseases on the target."

So, how would this impact the equation for Scourge Strike? Having outbreak would it: increase the total damage by 20%, increase the base weapon damage only by 20%, increase the 357.188 by 20%?

In other words how would I alter the equation...

[(Weapon Damage*.45)+357.188] + ({[(Weapon Damage*.45)+357.188].11}Number of Diseases) = total non crit damage

Thank you.

I BELIEVE it increases the total damage by 20%. But, it may be a 20% increase in weapon and additional damage before the disease modifier.

I think "+x% damage to ability" talents and glyphs are distributed through the whole equation and not just multiplied by that percent at the end. In most cases it's exactly the same, unless you have something else that increases just the base damage, or the bonus from diseases, and then it has a lower total effect.

Take the number that your base SS does.

Multiply by 1.2.

You're welcome, mathtard.

So, if I am understanding the responses correctly, the equation would be...

{[(Weapon Damage*.45)+357.188]*1.2Outbreak benefit} + ({[(Weapon Damage*.45)+357.188].11}Number of Diseases) = total non crit damage

Thank you.

For the love of God, SIMPLIFY YOUR EQUATIONS!

1.2[(WD * .45) + 357.188]*[1+(.11*NoD)] = maximum white, non-crit SS damage with no additional modifiers.

No reason to copy the whole base formula a second time. It just makes things more confusing. The 1+ part will make the percentage 1.33 with 3 diseases, counting as the 33% bonus to the initial formula.

Side note... I kinda miss math classes. O.o;; Now that I'm in college, I don't risk lowering my GPA with them, considering I'm a lazy bum and a History/East Asian Culture and Area Studies major...

AP Calc was fun. XD

I just specced unholy last night, and went to check my tooltip.

I have:
54% weapon damage + 419, 11% bonus per disease.

Apparently they don't increase the disease bonus with that talent. I was almost certain they did.

Since the disease bonus is a flat percent boost, the damage would be the same regardless of where they applied it (base damage or percent bonus). The only way it would change is if it applied to both, or only the MWD or the bonus.

1.2(x%MWD+y)1.33 is the same as 1.596(x%wd+y). Except that it would be more difficult to balance if they made it increase the percent, because that would make it 19.86666 percent per disease instead of 11%. That would keep the talent from working if no diseases were applied. This way, the boost is to be had, regardless of whether or not you have diseases.
