Which Trinket?Follow

#1 Apr 27 2009 at 8:20 AM Rating: Decent
I will be Darkmoon Card Greatness at the upcoming fair, and was curios which of my 2 trinkets I should replace.

I have the Forethought Talisman and the Illustration of the Dragon Soul.

I don't know how much of a diffence it will make, but I wanted to point out that I rarely use Direct Heals on anyone but the tank. Raid heals generally get HoTs, as someone else takes care of them.

Any advice or insight would be appreciated.

P.S. Sorry, I couldn't figure out how to link it:(

If you rarely use your direct heals, I'd drop Forethought. Greatness, through talents, will give you some SP too and some regen with or without the proc, dependind on if you take the Spi or the Int one.

I'm not a huge fan of the mechanics for Illustration, but it's hard to ignore +200 SP.

Definitely DCG+ISD is the best combo. One great mana regen trinket plus one great healing power trinket.
You're getting the Intellect version of DCG right?

Thanks for the replies and advice.

Yes, I was planning on the Int version of the DCG.

Question for you...

Why exactly would you take possibly two of the best resto trinkets and replace them with an intellect one?

I can see that maybe the crit bonus from int would be nice but it doesn't seem to really be worth it over a possible 311 sp from two trinkets. Correct me if I'm wrong here but I've always valued spell power over intellect when I'm resto. This being the reason why you never see anyone with intellect gems or enchants, and if you do, they're split stat gems.

Also, if you heal like me you use swiftmend pretty much every time its up. Swiftmend counts as a direct heal and will proc your forethought talisman. I use this all the time in arenas for that very reason.

But as a counter point, if yes you are raid healing I could forsee that you would want more int for the matter of spreading more heals with a larger mana pool.

I'm a nourish guy so basically more SP > int imo.

Personally, I would keep the dragon soul and the forethought talisman those are two very very great trinkets that can do wonders for you.

There is also the benefit from the proc which gives an extra 300 to your highest stat out of Agi, Int, Str or Spirit and it has a 35% uptime. Pretty damn awesome and it is from what I have read (I am hoping to get my hands on an agility one for my Feral) a guaranteed proc. Without 100% understanding of the resto druid mechanics it would give you that extra boost to your Mp5 (and 45 SP from talents, not great but better than a kick in the teeth) for 35% of the time if spirit was your highest stat, I think (correct me if I am wrong) that would would be the most beneficial and what the OP is hoping to get out of it.

The problem is though is that its hard to make spirit you're highest stat. Stamina generally ends up being the highest because of things like.

Food Buff - 40 stam
Imp Fort - 160 stam (or so I dont know the exact number)

vs

Divine Spirit - 80 spirit

I'm assuming you're doing a 25 man raid with access to both buffs btw.

There is about a 120 point discrepancy you have to overcome and not to mention that most gear has a higher stamina for healers than it does other stats like int and spirt.

Maybe its just me in my gear but my spirit has never gone over my stamina or near close. Mind you my resto gear is half a 25man naxx balance set.

I do love the 2 trinkets I currently have. I never really saw a need for the Greatness Trinket until the latest patch. I'm in a casual guild, (I personally am a little more than casual and pug 25 mans often) and since the patch the other healers are having problem with going oom. They still have some gearing up to do (Our other main healer quit playing) as do the DPS. Until the other healers get geared up, and the DPS can down the bosses quicker I am having to innervate one of the healers on several fights.

So in order to increase my mana pool and my own regen I thought getting this trinket would allow me to be more active with my healing instead of being so concious about my mana. I haven't went oom yet, but I have had to pot several times and had given my innervate to another healer. I know I will still have to pay attention to my mana, but thought this trinket would give me a little more freedom.

Maybe I am looking at it wrong and I should just keep the 2 trinkets I have and sell the Nobles deck.

Not sure if my post was clear but only the four stats mentioned above can be affected by the greatness card so stam is not included in the highest stat thinking.

Indeed, even in my kitty set my Agi still hasn't caught up to my Stam yet (though it's getting close).
When it procs I still get +300 Agi.

Hmm, maybe it just procs whatever stat you get it with, be it the spirit. Someone with a greatness deck should clarify this because I'd like to know for sure.

It procs the highest among the 4, always, every time. You can have the INT on the trinket itself and still get a Spirit buff, potentially, or vice versa. Stamina is completely irrelevant.

If my stats are

# Strength: 248
# Agility: 457
# Stamina: 1501
# Intellect: 138
# Spirit: 161

and I have a greatness card, no matter what +90 I have on the card it will always proc 300 Agility. Or what about

# Strength: 86
# Agility: 87
# Stamina: 1163
# Intellect: 770
# Spirit: 544

You'll get an Int buff, even if you take the one with Spirit.
