Any benefit to using Demonic Circle?Follow

#1 Apr 26 2009 at 9:23 AM Rating: Decent
Seems like I can't use it in combat to get out of a snare. When I try to teleport, I keeping getting the message "Can't use that yet". Am I just doing something wrong? Is there a distance constraint where I have to be within a few feet of the circle to teleport?

Don't know what you mean. Yeah, I know I can create a demonic circle at my feet. Then I can be elsewhere and use the teleport back to the demonic circle. My problem is I can't use it during bg. I didn't find any fine print that addresses that. Maybe you should read my question more carefully before posting a sarcastic response.

40 yard range, 30 second CD. Read the tooltip.

Ndia,teleport has 2 "parts"

1 is summon teleport
2 is teleport to the spot where you summoned (you need to be in 40yrd radius)

And you can't use that while stunned,only snared (poisons,earthbind totem,slowed by frost mage,hamstring,coex ...)

To change the subject a bit, as the original has been solved(40 yard radius), I'm looking for ways to use demonic teleport in raids. As of right now I use it for the Malygos fight so I don't take fall damage and I try to use it in all fights with fall damage. I also use it on Heigan to get back on the platform instantly and I saw a warlock use it for the ledge boss at Thaddius once so if he missed it he could port up and try again real quick.
Most of it's stupid little stuff like that but I enjoy using all the tricks in the bag when I can. Are there any other raid situations where demonic teleport has come in handy, particularly fights in Ulduar that you folks have done.

Thank you for letting me know about the 40 yrd radius. It is not mentioned anywhere in the description of the spell, which I read several times. There were too many mentions of demonic circle in all the patch notes to read them all. Most importantly, my tooltip is not working properly.

Thank you for being so kind as to provide the answer I was looking for.

It's a nice utility spell for us to make our lives a little easier. In PvE that is, I don't PVP so I am not sure how well it works there. I find fun uses for it all over the place. I can find a use for it on almost any boss and even some trash pulls. Examples:

- Maly, Anub'Rekhan, Anub'arak can be used avoid fall damage

- Thaddius it can be used for a quick polarity change

- Loken it can be used to get out of his AoE

- Heigan it can be used to get back to the platform quickly

- Gothik it can be used to teleport through the gate before it opens for some extra DPS

- 4 Horse can be used to teleport between bosses in the back. especially helpful if you have 2 locks tanking

- XT-002 it can be used to get out of range of other players if you get one of the bombs (if you're not using a spread out strat)

etc....

It can also be used to get out of the yellow runes for iron council.

it can't be used on maly anymore, previously you could use it to escape the spinny ****... now it says "you can't do that here" whenever you try

At the end of Obsidian Sanctum, you can teleport back to the lava-lined area, so you can easily avoid the flame walls.

It takes more timing in PVP, because anyone can attack you anywhere, which is why I had suggested they change the range or the buff time.
In Warsong Gulch, place the circle inside the right doorway, near the ramp. You can guard the flag from back inside the flag room, then easily chase someone that got away, or get yourself out of a tight spot. In Arathi Basin, place the circle close to one of the buildings, or on the Gold Mine hill.
If you are into Affliction enough to get Curse of Exhaustion (which I highly recommend for PVP), you can literally let your pet kill someone, while you kite them between teleporting.
I like to place a circle on the ledge to the Fort, so I can easily jump in and out of people attacking. When I am on the guns, I can get right back up there, if I am on the ground for any reason. Also, it's fun to teleport back and fourth from the graveyard while raiding the little enemy camps.

This is the single greatest ability in WoW imo well for PVP at least i ******* love it.
WSG is the best, run into the enemy base upstairs place a circle so ure looking back outside, then run in jump down and pretend to head down the tunnel so horde (in my case) can see you then port up, yeah u don't drop the flag, and run away. Also great when you have the flag and people try kill you, you fight back a little then port away to anywhere u have left it to survive that little bit longer.

Weirdest thing that ever happened was i teleported right when a DK did deathgrip and he managed to pull me back through a wall, and another bug was when a rogue must have shadowstepped me right when i ported and he ended up right with me at my portal....which sucked.

In AB place the portal at the edge of the cliff at LM when ure about to die like 10% HP jump off and if the enemy thinks 'haha i am gonna follow him and get the HK' then port back up. Takes good reaction timing and only works on mele.

Craziest ping pong moment for me using Teleport was in WSG in the middle farming HK's like a noob some DK grips me miles way back to him so i Teleport right away...only to be blown away by a shammy thunderbolt who was right at my portal, then when i stopped flying from the thunderbolt a druid tidal waved me, or wateav that spell is, then a rogue used ShS and killed me....i just sat back and LOL'd

Sorry for getting massively off subject but yeah Demonic Circle in PVP is great, the fact is doesn't need LOS is amazing!

OMG I did not know this!

My little lock is only 72 atm, havn't played him in about 18 months, and can't wait to hit 80 and give this 'bad boi' a test.

Not being able to use it while stunned seems pretty lame though, no?

Blizz stated they wouldn't want it to brake stun because then we would use it only as a stun breaker and not "creative" as they had it planned.

But yea, would be great if it broke stuns.

You have to be within 40 yards of the circle to jump rite?

There is no chance that you will always be in that 40 yards when you get jumped by a rogue in the centre of WSG.
If you did happen to be within the 40 yards then great. If not, you don't get to use it.

That's why you gotta plan your circle, best way is to put it somewhere where it can't be seen (behind any los object) ,even better is to put it on elevated point, kite your opponent to range, tele, dot up , /laugh ..

WSG for example, flag room, put it on roof and you can drive people crazy.

AB,same,near mine,put it next to water pool,have melee come to range,jump in water,tele back,dot,run,jump back,30sec passed,tele again ..etc..

It's very situational but it can help alot if used properly and timed right.

blades edge arena and dalaran sewers are great for this. put a port on the bridge or up on the center ledge (far away from the two stairs up at the corners) and you can drag a melee down then port back up out of range.

just remember that death grip will bring you down just as easily as your port brings you up. i had a lock do that to me in blades edge; put down a circle on one of the pillars, then jumped off. i followed, he ported back up and i said "no, you wanted down and youre damn well gonna get it" (over vent...seriously) and then DG'ed him back down, more or less ruining his **** (and scoring the first kill of the match).

Learn to love it on Mimiron as well. A well placed circle, a well timed teleport and a little bit of luck can effectively ensure you will never have to run from the laser barrage.
