Planning to switch to mutilate from combatFollow

#1 Apr 26 2009 at 6:05 AM Rating: Decent
My rogue just turned 75, and i've been combat longer than i can remember.

I am considering putting my swords into the bank and picking up daggers. Any suggestions on dagger builds for leveling would be appreciated.

I wanted to give Mutilate, or other dagger build, a fair chance before i get to 80. Also i plan to play PVE, dont think i'll pvp much.

Moegue on Medivh, sorry i didnt link armory, but i usually dont post alot and never figured it out.

Thank you for any ideas.

This http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#fGecoeMsVboIuZ0xV0xZxb is the build I would use for leveling to aim for to 80, using duel wound and slow/slow weapon speed

And just cause you said you said you wanted to pve http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#f0ef0exoVboIuVo0xV0hZxbis the general pve mut spec

That leveling build sucks.

This is better.

Thanks both for your builds. I tried first build today, seemed ok, although Theo's looks more favorable for my playstyle...

Having some difficulty getting a rotation to work, granted i need more time with it, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Again, thank you for the builds and any future help.

Sure thing and I took a look back over my build, as theo eloquently said it sucks. And theo yours is the mut pvp build with points in remorseless attacks, while survivability is good for leveling, my play style for it prefers bursting them down which is what mut builds are great at, thus I'd actually use this getting a ton of crit and boosting evis's dmg as much as you can with a mut build.

Again, depends on survivability vs burst.

Edit: link didn't work

Focused attacks is crap outside of raiding.

Combat talents aren't worth skipping the kind of utility talents you get from Sub (and damage, like Serrated Blades).

QR is absolutely priceless in leveling, as well. Getting 20% more health from a pot or bandage (or Cannibalize) is amazing.

If you have a problem bursting anything with my build, you're bad; my build essentially gives you a full CS -> double crit mut -> KS -> mut -> mut opener, which is more than enough to finish off anything.

The only reason I added points in Imp Evis is for when you're 80 and you can CS -> mut -> evis like I can.

This should definitely help me once I get daggers. Would Close Quarters be worth going down to in the combat tree due to the crit chance, or is it not very noticeable with the build you linked, Theo?

Not very noticeable. With almost half of your crit on Mut coming from Puncturing Wounds, it's a waste to get another 5% crit by wasting 10 points in combat.

Good to know. I think there's a dagger from VH that I can attempt to get, along with the one you were talking to me about in Zuldrak. So once I can get those and get to 75 (about 4 bars), I'll be switching and trying it out. Slowly trying to prepare myself for fail (as in, I fail, not the build). Smiley: tongue

Thought I'd just steal this thread instead of making a whole new one since I'm in a some what related situation. I'm not up to date on gearing for mutilate rogues and have the dilemma coming up of choosing what weapons to choose between titansteel shanker, namlak's supernumery sticker, and 2x librarians paper cutters...any advice from the wiser rogues that I know post here ? =)

Oh yeah, how the hell do you link items from alla's DB? (>.<) God i'm dumb...

If for example, you wanted to link the Titansteel Shanker, you would highlight titansteel Shanker, click the "URL" button at the top of the posting page, and paste the link to the page of the Titansteel Shanker, then hit okay. Which in turn, would give you this: Titansteel Shanker.

As for the other part of your post, I have no idea. Sorry.

TS Shanker/LPC are BiS pre-raid.

That's MH/OH in case you're stupid.

Hello again, after a few days with Mutilate build the speed in which i take down single mobs is awesome. I do feel alittle weak against multiple mobs, perhaps i'm not familiar with the proper sequence or type of abilities to use. But all in all i think i'll stay with Mutilate for a few levels on the way to 80 before i decide which way to go.

These forums are always helpful, thanks again for the builds and advice.

PS...Theo, i miss your House Avatar, hehe

I think I mentioned this a while ago but Theo is on an avatar switching kick. It's been different every other day for the last 2 weeks. I personally vote for the dancing house, or his boy-hungry blood elf with the glowing eyes.

Stevie Y is here to stay until the end of the playoffs. After we win the Cup, House will be back.
