Freezing trap macro helpFollow

#1 Apr 25 2009 at 10:01 AM Rating: Decent
I'm mainly a priest, but play my hunter now and then. I used to use a macro to hit a mob, then turn off auto shot and pet attack so it would run into my trap, and I wouldn't accidentally break it. It doesnt work now. Ive played with the autocast, etc, settings in interface and Ive looked in many places, and frankly, just get more confused. Also, my pet seems to go after the (soon to be frozen ) target, and breaking it. Does anyone have a specific macro that works for that, or can point me to where I could find it.
Thanx

This really should be in the "help me" thread that stickied at the top of the page; However, I guess I'll still help a bit.

1. If your pet is running after a mob when you shoot it, it means it's set to the "Defensive" stance. Put the pet on Passive, and it'll only attack if you tell it to attack (by default, Ctrl 1)

2. Set your trap, and just hit the Escape button a few times (It'll also eventually deselect your target, so there's no chance of hitting it). That's the most reliable way to do it. You'll want to get used to doing it without a macro, because if you're trapping in an instance, you may want to keep attacking another target while trapping the one that's going after your squishies.

Clear target will work, but I prefer using a /cast [target=mouseover] insert shot here

Really just make sure you have a decent amount of room between the trap and the mob, you can shoot him twice and then switch targets and there won't be any risk.

Something like this should work.

/cast Freezing Trap
/cleartarget
/petfollow

You would have to hit the mob before you used this macro (this is more in response to you having aggro/PvP usage)

or you could use

/cast Arcane Shot
/cleartarget
/petfollow

and use this after you dropped a trap and waited for the CD timer a while.
