It never ceases to AMAZE me that they come up with changes like they made in 3.1 to exorcism, supposedly test it on the PTR AND their own in-house testing and then, sometimes less than a week later...they nerf it into oblivion or even completely remove it from the game.
LMAO
I mean they acted as if they were COMPLETELY caught by surprise on some of these things they change. It's ridiculous. What were the Devs actually DOING during the testing phase? Were they secretly playing WAR?
I'm not a game developer, but I did work with some pretty smart folks that tested missiles at one time. They were pretty good at modeling the characteristics of something on a PC and then letting various scenarios run in simulated environments 24/7 so they could obtain VERY accurate data. That allowed them to tweak and improve upon a design until they pretty much got it right on the FIRST time when they actually BUILT the missile and tested it in real life.
Now all a character is in RL is a spreadsheet and probabilities. It's MATH in other words, the same as the situation I described above. So why can't they do the same thing and min/max the scenario/simulation for varying environments of play when they want to tweak/change a class? To me there is no reason they should come forward like they did here and basically say "Whoooopsy-daisy....didn't see that imbalance coming! Sorry about that."
I am very disappointed in the way they 'test' prior to implementation.
