Discussions on lifebloom seem to have worked their way into most of the recent druid healing threads started as of late. Personally I'm still having issues with the spell changes myself, so I thought I'd start a thread dedicated to it.

Pre-patch I was one of those druid who rolled 3-stacks of LB on the tank(s) continuously. However post-patch I've used it only sparingly, and have moved more towards a single application fire-and-forget approach where I let it bloom on the target.

However I seem to be having problems with this approach. For example last night LB didn't make my top-3 heals (H Gun'drak daily), yet it accounted for nearly 40% of my over-heals...

From what I can tell I seem to be having problems with the bloom portion. I have trouble under most circumstances knowing 8-ish seconds ahead of time whether or not this bloom will be used to full effect...

Perhaps I'm still working out the kinks with the spell. Now to add a bit more, I also read this comparison made by Stille on the elitist jerks forum:

Concerning the Lb vs Rejuv discussion:

Since the wowwiki info concernig lb wasnt up-to-date, i prefered doing some napkin test healing a Felhunter. The following numbers are without 6% healing-ToL-Aura and sitting @ 1930 spelldmg (no tol and manareg-gear)

I used [Idol of Awakening], [Spark of Hope] and [Glyph of Lifebloom].

After subtracting the lb-bloom-mana-return, one cast effectively costed me 213 mana.
Over (glyphed) 10 seconds, it ticked 10 times for 351 + a final bloom of 2863. At 14% crit, thats 6.573 healingin 10 seconds or 657 hps with 30.86 Mp5

Rejuv costed 341 mana and ticked 6 times in 18 seconds for 1742 healing each. Overall, thats 10.452 healing per cast (hpc)at 653 hps with 30.65 Mp5.

Granted that numbers will very a bit based on gear & glyph choices, at first glance LB and RJ seem to offer a similar amount of healing-over-time potential. On paper at least this would appear to make either a viable option for HoTing up targets.

That being said I was discussing my lifebloom issues with my guild last night, and one of the priests, who was largely unfamiliar with the spell, asked for an explanation of it. I linked LB, and talked with her in vent and in guild chat a little about it.

After listening to all I and the others had to say, she had a simple reply... "sounds complicated"

Thinking about it a bit this pretty well summed up my feelings about the spell, it's complicated.

It seems there are some very good uses for it. If you know the bloom will be used to full effect, it appears to be a perfectly viable alternative to RJ.

From my point of view though, it struggles a bit because it doesn't trigger Revitalize, and it can't be swift-mended. However, it can be stacked, and you can increase its effectiveness in that way.

In the end I think I'm mostly confused about how to use it to full effectiveness, and perhaps I just favor the simplicity of RJ a bit, as it seems easier to wield effectively. However I can't shake the feeling that if I was doing something different with LB I could be making better use of it...

Any thoughts on this would be welcome, I'm one confused tree over here...

It's a pretty tough spell to use without getting a good chunk of overheal now, and I've definitely noticed myself moving almost completely away from using it.

Either I have to anticipate 10 seconds in advance when someone's going to be taking a good hit (which is nigh impossible most of the time) or I have to put it on someone who's already low and hope a) they don't take any heavy hits in the next ten seconds and b) no one else heals them to full before the bloom goes off.

I've mostly been using it just as a tank heal, when Regrowth and Rejuv aren't enough, and making the judgement call when it's about to bloom to either let it do so (if it'll be effective healing) or to refresh it (if it'd be wasted).

What was bugs me most about it is that it seems like whenever the person it's on is already at full health, it seems to have a 100% crit rate. >.>

Deconstructor is a good place to use lifebloom if you're using dbm you can anticipate the tantrums as it goes off cd.

Also DBM on deco will tell you who he is going to bomb as well.

Just one fight I can think of that you can time out your blooms.
