New Tree Druid. Needs a little help.Follow

#1 Apr 17 2009 at 8:20 AM Rating: Decent
I'm a Boomkin by trade, never tried to heal before. With dual-spec out now my guild asked that i go Resto to help ease the healers a bit on some fights in Ulduar. Problem 1 is i know next to nothing about healing. I picked up some tier peices in Naxx25s but i have no idea how to gem or chant them. is there is a thread that can tell me the "rotations" and other things that would be helpful i would love to know about it. Thanks guys

Well I'll start with the obligatory link to the elitist jerks forum, there's a good healing thread there.

Now that the rules have changed with regards to stacking Lifebloom it seems people are still trying to figure out the most effective way to heal.

To add my opinion to what I'm sure will be many, Rejuvination is a great heal over time to put on anyone who you expect to take damage. Wild Growth can cover AoE damage to melee and other party/raid members fairly effectively. Regrowth or Nourish are generally the go-to heals for when someone (usually tank) is taking heavier damage.

For when the s@!t hits the fan most druid healers will macro Nature's Swiftness + Healing Touch for a single target. For group wide problems I've macro'd Barkskin + Tranquility.

For Gems and Enchants I tend to concentrate on spell power and spirit; mp5 is nice, but spirit adds to our spell power as well as mana-regen.

Welcome to healing!

Edited because I missed something :)

if they want you to help out that probably means raid heals. First I highly suggest using Healbot so that you can monitor everyones health. Second make sure decurse is ready and available (hotkeyed)
Third: Wild Growth is your friend (I call it my Kmart special heal, 5 for the price of 1 or 6 if you glyph it)

I normally will toss wildgrowths on the tanks to help out their healers and then toss one on a dps. The rest of the time Im hotting the raid and if the occasional Mage gets a little too pewpewspammy I bring out the nourish because its fast.

While on this subject, wich glyphs are you guys using? I assume LB glyph became even more useless now?
I tend to use the Regrowth, Innervate and WG, since I'm usualing healing the raid.

ps. I'm a moonkin, but sometimes we are low on healers and I have a pretty ok resto set, with some good naxx 25 equipments and OS 25 trinkets.

seedless rebirth because carrying around one stack of reagents is pricy enough.

LB is not useless at all, and if anyone tells you it is I'm concerned for their ability to heal properly. I've never really been a fan of using it unless I was on tank heals, but on raid heals it still serves the exact same purpose - when you know someone will be taking damage or when they're taken light damage and WG didn't hit them but it's better if they get some HP immediately (Grobbulus is the only example coming to mind ATM, but I just woke up).

Replace Regrowth with a glyph of Swiftmend. It's your only burst heal, and having it ignore a HoT is a big deal. I'd also switch Regrowth out for a glyph of Nourish if that's available to you, but I use Nourish rather heavily.

Glyphs: Swiftmend, Regrowth (Till I can get my hands on Nourish), Rebirth (testing its usefulness)

In reference to Lifebloom...

LB isn't useless to me these days by any means, but it's far more situational.

I make greater use of it in movement-heavy fights: i.e. anything where we have to tank in a circle, or when the party gets tossed around the room, etc.

I'll also pro-actively cast it if there's a chance I'll get frozen, wrapped, stunned, silenced or otherwise randomly incapacitated for a period of time.

In "normal" encounters (whatever those are...) I'll use it to increase my cushion on known damage-taking members of my party if I have down-time in my healing, but other than that it isn't used. My top 3 heals have gone from RJ, LB and either WG/RG before the patch to RJ, RG and either WG/Nourish these days...
