Wiping Razorscale cleanFollow

We started on Ulduar25 yesterday with my guild. We tried to do some raiding on patchday, which of course was sheer impossible.
Our first plan yesterday was to do the new VoA boss first, so we could write it on the progressionchart after which everyone was free to PuG it in the future, but seeing that Alliance lost WG in a very short and bloody battle, we decided to head directly for Ulduar.

We were all amazed by the coolness of the Flame Leviathan fight, which is a big step up in originality compared to the other WotLK raids. We proceeded to one shot him. After that we went on to Ignis, where we even wiped on the trash. We decided to give Razorscale a try first. When I say, a try, I of course mean 2,5 sweet hours full of wiping and trying to learn a fight. We didn't even get him down in the end.

So what do I think of it? Well, I have to say, I loved it! I'm not gonna say my guild is really hardcore, and think of everything as EZ-mode, and OS+3 only a minor challenge, neither did we one shot everything the first time we set foot in Naxx25. But we did get every boss in Naxx down on the first evening we tried them, and mostly we had multiple first kills in one evening. I'm really glad to see the difficulty has changed at least so much in Ulduar, that there are actually real challenges and there's actually the possibility of wiping multiple nights on one boss :)

Tell me your experiences with the new and improved WotLK raiding :D

I've been to 25 man Ulduar twice now. The first time (Wednesday night) we had issues getting back in after a wipe on the Flame Leviathan. We went back in last night and took him down after one wipe. Man I love that fight! I need to try some the other vehiles though. I was a gunner on a Siege Engine. Like you we tried for the next boss and wiped on the adds. We got back in so we went fot XT-002. After wiping a couple of times people had to go so we left it there. I think this is going to be challanging and a whole lot of fun.

I'm loving it. My guild is learning to play together and we're starting to find out who are weaker players are. We're not hardcore by any means but when we started raiding, and started the guild for that matter. We had about 2 or 3 solid months to crank out 4/5 MH and 7/9 BT before 3.0 hit and then full clear after. So as a guild we progressed through BC w/o a problem but since the content was old in the standards of wow we had advice and know how, how to do it.

Naxx was easy sauce and you can't get a good idea of who is good or bad.

Now that Ulduar is here its really going to show how my guild will survive the push into new content.

I love it though.

Ulduar is indeed a great way to seperate the weaker players from the stronger. And the with those weaker players it's mostly a matter of mentality in my guild. I'm the druid classleader in my guild, and together with the other CLs we've already had some talks about those weaker players before the patch hit, but there's just not too much we could do about them, because Naxx didn't really bring the weak players out in the open, because there weren't any real "lifethreatening" situations where everyting counts.
Well, that was until now. Ulduar really brings out the best and the worst in players, and I like that.

I am giving huge kudos to Blizz for the great work they did on Ulduar. However, after seeing it i am a little upset even more now about Naxx and original Vault. Those easy easy easy instances seem to have taken my guild from the ruthless destroyers of SSC and BT, where we fought tooth and nail to get the fights down and we prided ourselves on perfection, to a bunch of bumbling idiots.

We strolled into Ulduar and happily one shot Flame guy, got our asses smeared on Ignis trash, Ignis was so bugged though that he was a futile attempt. Next night we hit up Razorscale, happily after 8 attempts we got him down. Thursday was XT, after about 7 tries we had that spaz down to about 15%.

Very creative and fun fights! However our problem now is that we have a guild full of people who are used to easy raids, we have people who think that because they are in the guild they have a right to go and raid Ulduar. We as officers are now at the dilema of telling people, no, you simply are not good enough. And that, my friends, is not a fun thing to do.

i feel the same our guild couldnt get razor to the second flying phase. over half the raid was dead when we got four harpoons on him every time. no raid awareness. healer dieing to the lighting bolt on them (guess cant heal your self only others) people dieing in flames. tanks not picking up all the mobs as they ran 10 feet from them. i was highly pissed. we wasnt the top guild or anything like that at the end of bc we was working through ssc and tk but still if you have a fire under you ah hmm how about moveing?? kills me i was tanking one spot for the adds and my healer died not even 15 sec into the fight. guess you cant stop healing to live and get out of the flames.

Aw I love it. Suddenly everyone is starting to feel the effects of lawlramus and seeing it from the eyes of people like bodhi theo rp and myself that naxx was too easy.

Kind of makes me laugh honestly.

But enough of that.

My guild found out that we're losing one of our officers, who shouldn't have been an officer anyway, whom is terrible warrior dps. I have yet to figure out how a fury warrior can't put up 4k+ dps. We're also losing our worst healer a holy pally who is going to be replaced with a capable pally healer.

It's so nice, my guild is pushing the scrubs, forgive the term, to the wayside and beginning to shine.

The two ten mans we had running both got to Mimiron before things started getting absolutely insane.

Between my timezone and working late last week I haven't seen Ulduar yet.

The guild is going back in tonight. I'm hoping one of the tanks they had last week doesn't show.

If not I have to wait until tomorrow when the new weeks runs start.

So excited, I think I pee'd a little.

I'm happy Ulduar is more difficult for sure, but also a little scared. Being an Aussie raiding guild on a US time server, we don't have a lot of people to pick from, and frankly, several of our guild were bad when we managed to clear BT just before WotLK. Now having been spoonfed through Naxx and carried through Maly phase 3 by 6 good players who can get 25+ stacks of the damage debuff they have got even worse. We managed to do Sarth2D once, but have failed so many times by having up to 10 people dieing to void zones!

Now we will hit the hard stuff. Hopefully it won't take too long for the bad players to get their act together or we will start losing some of the better players :(

Oh well, at least I can have fun in 10 mans with the good players :)

Not sure if you noticed on the home page but they are making some of the fights easier "to allow more players to see the content".

While I am kind of for it, it just goes back to the problem where it doesn't show up people who consistently cannot run the right way on Thaddius or get their asses out of void zones or fire on the floor. Also, might stop our flash of light spamming holy pally (this winds me up because he is loved in my guild and nothing is said when the tank goes down, it is the usual "must have been bad luck" *bites tongue each time*) from being shown up too!

I am in the same boat as you Friar.

We have 6 solid raiders.

Luckily 2 are friends in RL. One is a Canadian me and my 2 RL friends have been with for over a year and xfered server with us. The other2 cats we hook up. The one guy that has been more consistent we just made him an officer. The last of the solid guys is an awesome healer but is not 100% for showing up, when he does that he will be officer as well.

We need to recruit...

Well I have not had a chance to venture into Uld too much but I do like the increased difficulty. I am not hyped up about the vehicle encounter- there was a reason I rolled my toon TYVM.

The biggest thing that blizz effed up with Naxx was using it. It was a late release instance that probably shouldn't have happened. People were in Nexx for 2 months and then BC hit.... Naxx was abandoned. Some guilds cleared it and everyone knew the fights or at least had worked on the strats for them. To take this lvl 60, 40 man raid instance and try to retune it to a lvl 80, 25 man raid was sheer folly.

I remember the nights wiping on Maenexxa and thinking how hard that was- and we were using 40 members! Then to walk into the zone with 25 and the boss fights are exactly the same? The difficulty was even lower! I don't know who here was assigned to the wrapped people on that fight (probably only the Moonkins- I also play a hunter) but people would be sprayed everywhere and it wasn't along the ground all nice and neat like it is now, they could be anywhere. It was a challenge to get all people out of webs before they died, now I think the MH could keep them up with an occasional renew or rejuv.

What I'm saying is that Blizzard shouldn't have been lazy with the instance. I understand that they were a little upset at loosing Naxx so quickly, and that it tied into the storyline of WotLK, but they should have at least overhauled the instance.
