I thought they were nerfing our us!Follow

I know they nerfed a lot of things, like Glyph of BB. But, what the hell did they do to Blood and death strike? Last night in heroic AN I got a 12k crit on death strike. The only buffs I had were horn of winter and might. In all my 25 man raiding (no maly >.<), I have never seen Scourge Strike hit anywhere near that hard. I am not counting Thaddius btw.

Im 51/2/18. I've got Dark death, Disease, and Death strike.

A crit at 25 RP and below 10% health:

(Base damage) + 30%(ImpDS) + 25%(Glyph) +145%(Bonus Crit damage) + 10%(Blood Gorged) +4%(2 handed)

Does that seem right? That ends up being x4 damage on crit O.o

Death Strike got buffed b/c it has damage modifiers added to several talents. There is also the Improved Death Strike Talent now. Blizz stated they want DS to be the 2-rune strike for Blood.

Yeah, its like they forgot that Heart Strike did more than BS in their calculations, though.

From what I understand, DS alone does more than Oblit or SS. Factor in the increased damage of HS (and all of this damage scales with your weapon, in favor of Blood). The only thing the other two specs have going for them is better AoE damage. Frost Strike, alone, doesn't make up for the difference (because DC doesn't do THAT much less). And Unholy also uses DC for its runic dump on single targets (I don't know if keeping UB up is better threat, but either way it is used every other cycle).

Oh yeah, and DS heals you. >.<

Balance is a four letter word at Blizzard...

Apples to oranges. Take a look at your damaging attacks lists for the two builds. Blood has a few, high-percentage attacks whereas Unholy has several, more evenly ranged damage sources. Looking at only the main strikes for both builds is an unfair comparison. SS isn't supposed to hit as hard as HS, Oblit or DS because of its other damage sources.

Right now I'm not seeing a huge disparity between DS (for Blood builds) and Oblit (for Frost) when properly glyphed. Frosts issues aren't with Oblit sadly. There is a distance between DS and SS but overall damage is very close. At least, in my testing they are.

Hmmm, perhaps blood won't be the redhead step child I figured it would be.

But yeah that sounds just like boomkin dps. It's all about slow cast big number things, where as feral it's smaller numbers but faster.

I'm doing a 50/0/21 spec, and i'm hitting 2400 DPS using only horn of winter on the nemesis dummy (I'm in all item level 200 gears, only have 3 pieces of the T7 set), and I hit over 3k dps whenever theres a trash pull with 3 or more mobs. On bosses with Adds I hit 4k DPS burning all my CD's. It's pretty crazy.

This is an insane buff compared to where I was at before.

The point I meant to make, and upon re-reading I realize I failed epicly, is that Blood scales much better with gear than the others, because most of its attacks use a high percentage of the main-hand weapon. So, when their AP gets higher and their weapons get better, I can imagine nothing else being able to compete on single targets (I'm JUST talking about bosses here, because WP and UB can get pretty epic pretty fast for Unholy).

So, it just feels like every end-game DK DpS, minus one per raid, will be Blood in the top-end guilds. And that final one is only for Ebon Plague (which can be offered by an Unholy tank). Plus, Blood gets +BB (I believe) which is a pretty amazing boost to a pretty amazing ability (in its current form, in my opinion).

I just really want to see all three specs become competitive in terms of DpS at all levels. I understand this is INCREDIBLY hard to balance, but it is still a wish. Sure, Blood can be the highest single-target DpS. But I don't want to see Frost and Unholy lag behind far enough that it prevents players from going that route if they want to. Same thing with Blood and AoE.

(And, yes, I KNOW it is like this for all classes. I have the wish for them, too. But, many other classes can fulfill two or more roles, making the competition for DpS less intense between the two remaining specs. Although, I feel for certain classes that really have 1 raid, 1 PvP and 1 solo/raid DpS tree far more than with DKs.)

I'm just worried for the long run.
