Backstab and poisonsFollow

#1 Apr 15 2009 at 5:36 PM Rating: Decent
Bit of a misleading title - I don't mean to ask anything about using poisons in conjunction with backstab but rather the two separately.

Firstly, I notice my backstab rank 11 gives me 198% + 606 damage. Now i'm a little confused about the 606...

The percentage bonus is fine: I have the talents opportunity (20%) and sinister calling (10%) giving: 150 * 1.2 * 1.1 = 198%.

But every website i check the rank 11 backstab is supposed to be giving a flat 382.5 damage bonus. Now, was this changed with the recent patch perhaps?
I'm really not sure; initially I personally thought that the 606 was derived from bonuses from talents/attack power integration etc...but nothing adds up to this 606 i have.

Can anyone confirm what their rank 12 (I say this because I suspect most here have 80 rogues, and hence it's easier to check using this value, but if someone has rogues with rank 11 backstab then please do post as well) flat damage bonus to backstab is please? It is supposed to be 465 according to wowiki, wowhead, allakazam (and probably others). Let me know if you have something different.

As i say, I think the flat bonus in the tooltip is not supposed to take into account AP or such.

I could be wrong on just about anything in all the above, so correct me if i'm wrong please.

Now, onto poisons: This one's quick i promise; anyone know what the PPM for wound and instant poison are exactly? Just so I can check up on some calculations.

Thanks.

A thorough explanation of poisons can be found here

That clears the poison issue up, great.

For anyone interested; the basic premise of that linked post is that the PPM are based on 1.4 speed weapons and any such weapon will have the same chance for wound/instant that it did pre 3.1. (i.e. 1.4 speed with instant will have 20% chance, 30% with the talent, wound will have 50% on 1.4 speed weapon)

The main thing is that PPM will not decrease/increase if your actual (as opposed to base) weapon speed is different due to buffs/debuffs...anyways, that's a quick version of what's important from that.

So, how about this whole backstab thing?
