warlock pvpFollow

#1 Apr 15 2009 at 5:35 PM Rating: Decent
I've never really been into pvp, but I've recently gotten the urge to really give it a shot. I usually raid, so I was wondering if theres any pvp warlocks out there that can give me any helpful advice, like spec, whether I need hit or not, some must have gear pieces, etc etc. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone

PS How are warlocks faring in pvp nowadays anyway? I haven't heard anyone say "they're OP" or "they're super nerfed" in a long while...

4% base, with +2% (for a total of 6%) from racials versus certain races is required for hit rating , 27 hit rating per 1%.
Neck, cloak, bracers have +hit and so take them.

You need 76 Spell Penetration to counter improved Mark of the Wild (54 untalented),
130 to counter priests Shadow Protection buff, and 140 to counter Mages with talented mage armor.
That's if you plan to do some arena, for bgs you shouldn't worry about gemming +spell pen i.e.

Specs for 2v2 is mostly 54/17 (haunt/sl) ,even tho destro is pvp spec now.
Imo either 20/51 -2v2 double dps with imp. succy
or 17/54 with imp.soul leach for 3s.

As of this patch destro is crazy, but it's all too bursty anyway,
aff is still good but since feared got nerfed (now brakes on 10% of target's hp) it brakes after few ticks.
Tbh if you want to enjoy some pvp you need some pvp gear because we die really fast,I have 800 resi /21k hp and easily die in few sec from rogue or feral.

Aaargh! There is a difference between "Breaks" and "Brakes"

Breaks: â–¸ noun: the act of breaking something ("The breakage was unavoidable")
Brakes: â–¸ noun: brake consisting of a combination of interacting parts that work to slow a motor vehicle

I don't blame you. Homonyms are the hardest part of the English language for those people who are not native English speakers.

Actually, I've found that a lot of native English speakers have issues with those, er, homonyms as well. Perhaps because they grow up with the sound of the word (break and brake sound alike) while we, the foreigners, learn the different words and their meaning before we speak them.

Their/there/they're is another example.

I do mostly bg's im a lvl 80 destrut. duel speced for demon. i'm still building gear but i've found to best spec is to put most of talent points on damage in destruct tree ignoring pets and putting rest into affliction to max. life drain. im currently doing as good as most warriors and dks in kills. As for equipment i go for gear that has high stamina and spirit. The reason for spirit is you get 30% of your spirit added to spellpower with fel armor. ive found the demon armor worthless die just as fast better to kill fast.

Just use Curse of Elements, if they're a caster that's not going to move a whole lot. Mages and druids can remove it, but they also have to waste more time dealing with that and your minion, which is an advantage to us.

I cant believe no one said this yet, lol.
Demonology will gives us an additional 20% mitigation against ALL damage (+5% with the glyph), plus 5-10% depending on your minion.
Siphon Life will allow you to damage and heal yourself at the same time, making Corruption our most efficient DOT, should you choose to get all the talents to improve it.
Molten Skin gives us another 6% mitigation. If you choose this, then take the Bane instead of Improved Shadow Bolt; unless you use Searing Pain as your main nuke.
Curse of Exhaustion should not be underestimated. Get that if you are going into Affliction. It's mostly a PVP talent, anyhow.

It's an old thread but wth, since the grammar police were here he used break as a verb not a noun.

On topic, Warlocks can do well in PvP but they're not in huge demand. Best to find a good friend to arena with or just practice up in BGs.
