I respecced to 0/10/61, for what's supposed to be a wonderful DPS build, according to EJ. In my old DPS Frost build, I was getting 1300-1400DPS. In the new build, I'm doing 900-950. That's a big hit, especially when I expected being the same or slightly better. My equipment hasn't changed - only the build.

I'm using the EJ-recommended rotation (start with PS/IT then SS and BS until doomsday). Should I be doing something else?

Edited, *PS, not BS in start of rotation*

I thought Ghoul Frenzy was supposed to suck?

When did the opinion on this change?

I pulled 1500 using it tonight, and I'm in not the best of DPS gear.

OK, I forgot the pet, but it only added about 100 DPS - still not equal to what I had before. Maybe I just need to practice a bunch with the rotation, since it's so different from my frost rotation.

I found that by forgetting you even had Plague Strike and Icy, just to go with it. I was also keeping Ghoul Frenzy up as much as I could, and before blowing RP on DC, I would just use Unholy Blight.

By bringing up the Gargoyle in Sarth-10 Man on all the drakes, I was able to pull 2200 DPS.

It was a serious question about Ghoul Frenzy. Thinking about it, 30% Ghoul auto-attack DpS seems like it should be < half a SS, unless I am just predicting seriously wrong numbers (I don't have any actual data on Ghoul DpS).

Can anyone explain this? Is it because, in mobile fights, your pet will hit most of his attacks where you won't always be in range?

What pressences are you using? Running some tests last night with a different spec (17/51/3) I was getting 100more dps (on dummies, sorry, I tank in raids!) with blood pressence, but when I used my temp-ghoul and tested both, UP was about 100dps higher than blood (200dps swing). Now there is a bunch of factors that won't affect you, but the moral of this story is that it seemed unholy pressence helped the pet a lot more than blood did. Or maybe I did something wrong. Just trying to help.

In all honesty, I thought I was a moron for not "getting" why so many people are in love with 0/10/61. In my tests it performed Ok-ish but certainly not amazingly better than other builds. Figured I just sucked at something or didn't know the trick with the build. Ended up with better results using a different Unholy build or deep Blood variations. But, again, that could easily be that I'm just too dumb to know how to make the build work better. It's still a bit early to know for sure if it's going to be "the build" for 3.1. Give it a few more days and lets see how the parses work out.

Ghoul Frenzy is really there for the healing. The haste effect isn't a vital DPS addition. But keeping your dead friend around a bit longer is always good. Oh, also be sure that you're glyphed for the ghoul and that you feed him!

Also consider starting with IT/PS when moving into position. I find that there's often a GCD to be gained from using IT while running at the boss. PS/IT gives just a bit more damage when in position usually though, just to be clear.

As a side note: Your DPS will make more sense put into context. Doing 1k DPS in regular HoL is one thing, doing 1k in Ulduar25 is another. When you're putting numbers in your posts try to include the context. That should help us all get a more clear picture of what's up.

Cheers!

Okay, I see. I guess I could understand why you would want it then. Though, the 61 point spec, from my purely theory-crafting perspective, doesn't seem that attractive. Certain points just seem like they could be better spent elsewhere.
