New Shred Glyph: Details?Follow

So I picked this little addition up last night upon FINALLY getting online and buying dual speccing. The glyph details state essentially that each use of Shred will refresh Rip by 2 seconds, up to 6 seconds total. My question is this:

Is that 6 seconds per application of Shred? Or is it 2, 4 or 6 seconds per Shred, allowing a feral DPS to potentially keep Rip up indefinitely?

Per application of Rip I believe.

+2 seconds per Shred
Up to +6 seconds per Rip with 3 Shreds
Further Shreds will do nothing until you apply a new Rip

(If you've been Moonkin with the Moonfire glyph it's the same principle)

Thanks for clearing that up :)

I have yet to see the Savage Roar glyph anywhere, but I am presuming it will be a major glyph. With that said, my majors right now are Mangle, Rip and Shred.

From a purely DPS standpoint, my idea is that once I get a Savage Roar glyph I will swap it for the Shred glyph. Would you guys think that is a reasonably sound and logical course of action? I've never needed a refreshing of Rip before and quite honestly it'll just add a kink in my rotation as I've always been used to Rip never being extended by anything. Bumping it up to 6 seconds per application, while awesome in theory, I think may just make my rotation harder than it's worth.

Agree? Disagree? I'm bored at work!

IMO, keeping mangle up is easier than keeping Rip up. Especially in high mobility encounters. Or course it might also be harder to shred in high mobility encounters. Would stand to test both. I never really have much of a problem keeping up mangle, but sometimes my rip likes to line up with my Savage roar to **** me off. :P

If you have an extended rip and extended savage roar, it makes it very easy to get an occasional ferocious bite in for more damage. That's the idea behind extending them.

I would replace Glyph of Mangle with Glyph of Savage Roar. That's what I plan to do. Use Savage Roar, Shred, and Rip as majors and Dash, Thorns, and Unburdened Rebirth as minors.

DPS-wise, Shred glyph versus Rip glyph, Shred glyph wins. Rip is a straight 4s increase, Shred is a 6s increase as long as you can Shred thrice during a single Rip, which you should pretty much always be able to do if specced fully Cat. Even if you so happen to be able to do it only twice, it's still the same bonus as the Rip glyph, making Shred glyph the clear winner overall.

Also, I have to agree with Galenmoon, Mangle is much easier to keep up than Rip. Longer Rips give you more time to prepare for the next Rip, while Mangle can just be reapplied at any time given you have the Energy.

extended savage roar

There is no such thing as an "extended" SR, unless you simply mean to refresh it at 5CP's. The glyph increases the damage bonus by 3%, but not its duration.

My thoughts exactly.

Berserk was shown to be superior on paper, but I don't trust something on a 3 minutes CD. At least not until I know every fight like the back of my hand.

I also am using savage roar, rip and shred glyphs now. And mangle is definitely easier to keep up than rip. Maybe it's just habit from soloing quests, but I mangle TOO much. With the four seconds added to rip and now up to six more seconds, it's a lot easier for me to manage rip so it's up most of the fight on a boss.
