I've had my little hunter (lvl 74) waiting in the wings for over a year, I'd randomly just go on her to putz around and back off. Well now I'm gotten back into her fulltime(believe I posted about this a while back) Anyway, I'm in love with it and can't wait to hit 80 and really see what she can do. This weekend, while questing, got attacked seperately by a 71 horde dk, and a 73 Warrior. I and my gorilla won those battles, what excited me is that I am by no means a pvp'r, so yeah that probably ment they sucked bad. But the thought that I didn't get completely owned and left lying on the ground was such a nice feeling. I'd lvl faster if I could but with the amout of DPS my server, it can take 2+ hours to get a pug going and most of my guild is 80's, sometimes we run alts together, but mostly pugging. Ran a VH pug and topped the Dmg chart over a 75 dk and 74 shammy, that was something I've never experienced on my Holy Pally, also wet a ways to somewhat confim that I'm where I should be, DMG/stat wise. Can't wait to hit Zul'Drak for a blue/purple raptor there, but so far using a wolf in instances and gorilla for questing, have a cat that the raptor will replace.

All this being said, it's just such a great experience leveling her, almost forgot about my poor pally. I'm learning and reading alot on specs and gear and pets and etc...it's just always hard to know if you are stat wise where you need to be. Is there any info out there that gives an guideline/estimation on stats, numbers at certain levels(exmpl-is my AP to low/ MORE INT?).

Right now I'm specced BM, I know it's not optimal for dps and raiding but really like how it works for me so far. I'd also appreciate any input on my gear and spec. I will by no means be top hunter on my server but just want to be a good solid dependable player that can be counted on to pull my weight in a run or raid.

Thank you all for the help you give on this forum!

Why do you want to be sub-par?

Don't listen to Yuppley. BM is a great spec to level as, and it does its job in 5-mans (yes, even heroics!). As long as you know that it's sub-optimal for raiding and maxing out your DPS (for now), you're above average. There are still people out there that refuse to believe that SV is capable of doing more DPS-- just because they've partied with one and managed to keep up.

Having fun is the most important part of the game. If BM is what is fun to you, then kudos for staying! And if you can find a guild that will take you into raids as BM and not complain about it, all the better. Just know that you might be asked to respec for raids, and get ready to practice your rotation to max out your DPS if need be.

I personally can't wait until dual-specs so I can have a BM PvE grinding spec and my SV raiding spec. I'm not really enjoying a weak pet for the daily grind. Lean, mean, furry machines are so much more fun for solo'ing.

Actually, don't listen to that guy above me, because going BM means that you are losing DPS. It's a directly proportional relationship, I'm not trying to be mean or sway you away from BM, I'm just letting you know.

Maybe for raiding, but you missed the important bit--Garly is still leveling, and so BM is superior right now for him/her. Once they hit level cap it's a fair argument to make, but while leveling, having a pet that is able to tank effectively (in terms of healability as well as threat generation) is vital. Trading their pet's tanking ability for higher damage is not worth it at this point.

LOL thank you both for the information and help but it's not about being top/optimal etc for me I enjoy this spec so far, I'm not one to put dmg output over enjoyment. but will do what I need to to support my guild, and so far being BM is not an issue.

So you're letting him know something he already knows? ...And did you read my post at all? It's not wrong to tell someone to enjoy the spec that they're having fun with while warning them that they may have to respec to fulfill a role.

As for your gear and build, Xxarly, you're completely on the right track. Your helm and necklace have weird enchants/gems on them, but you're going to replace those real fast, so I wouldn't even worry about that at all. You don't even have the rep to get a better head enchant, so the Stamina enchant is better than nothing. Just make sure that you go out to Icecrown asap (when you have your flying mount) to start the quest lines to get the Knights of the Ebon Blade tabbard so you can grind for the AP/crit head enchant. I made the huge mistake of going to Stormpeaks first to start grinding with Sons of Hodir since they don't have a tabbard... it's was especially stupid since the only thing worth while from them are shoulder enchants... and I'm a Scribe.

After you get the Ebon Blade tabbard, go back to Storm peaks and start on the Sons of Hodir stuff. There are some really fun quests, and it unlocks a pretty big daily-quest hub.
