Post 3.1 Leveling BuildFollow

I have been trying to find a good post 3.1 solo, non-pvp, leveling build. I grind out quests solo and have no plans to change until I hit 80. It would be nice if I could tackle some of the group quests, like my warlock can, but perhaps that is asking too much. There is a lot of material for raiding and pvp end-game builds, but I have yet to run across what I am looking for. With 3.1 right around the corner (I hope!) it sure would be nice to see what I may have to change.

Thanks

Me too!

Just hit 69 last night and have been very happy running blood/unholy. Looks like we're headed for a free respec and all I really know is I want the fast horse, perma ghoul and bloodworms. Beyond that I'm not sure how to fill in the blanks on the way to those skills. This build will work for some of the group quests, at least where two players are suggested. Not sure about the 3 player ones, I haven't tried that. I was able to solo the Nessingwary group quests in Nagrand at 66, though I finished all three of them as a ghoul, hah! I don't know if I blundered into a decent build, or if maybe I could have finished those quests alive. I think the bloodworms may have done the trick if I had that skill.

Here's what I have as of last night...http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/deathknight/talents.html?tal=2315021510030310000000000003020100000000000000000000000235000331023110100100000000000

"Someone" will probably rate me down for not telling you what's the ultimate stats and talents for ultimate grinding, but I'll go with it anyway...

All specs can grind and solo just fine. In fact they are all OP in relation to other classes.

However they play differently and each spec gives a different style and game experience. So you should try out different specs and pick whichever is the most fun for you. Going faster isn't the better choice if you're going to be puking of boredom by the time you reach 80.

The forums seems to have a general divide between people who just love unholy and people who just love frost. As you can see the gaming experience differs greatly: http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/class.html?wclass=10;mid=1239389616195131567;num=12;page=1 (Couldn't find an unholy-biased equivalent).

Personally I've switched around a few times but find Frost-Blood to be the most enjoyable for solo, bg and worldpvp. I may however be in bias because in my realm solo is world pvp.

I can't see anyone rating you down for what you said Xorq, it seems pretty well understood even among noobs like myself that the DK can work pretty well in any way that suits the player.

That said, here is the build I have put together and would like some input like "well skill X looks pretty useless compared to skill Y in that build because..." I (and I assume a lot of other casual players) don't really see where 4% of this is stronger than 10% of that or whatever. If this particular leveling build can be refined a bit, it could be useful myself, Athu, and maybe quite a few peeps looking for a little guidance.

Thanks

Well maybe most folks here are level 80 and not really too interested in a levelling spec. FWIW I tried the Blood/Unholy spec as close as i could get to the one posted, since the tree isn't exactly the same. Hated it. Stupid bloodworms seemed very weak to me and I went for a respec already. This build seems to work much better so far. Kind of scattered looking since I'm not an expert on exactly how powerful some of the skills are and I may have made some poor choices filling in spaces to get to the skills I really wanted.

I'm still a newb/noob DK, but I don't think the bloodworms were meant to due a lot of damage, to me their main purpose is to help heal you with the damage they do just being gravy.....mmmmmm gravy.......where was I?

Oh ya, well I'm blood thus far and am only 60 right now but really love it. I'm going to go try and solo some of the elites in hellfire then respec to holy, fight them again, respec to frost and fight them again to see what I enjoy the most. I'll admit, and I've only tried blood so far, but damn do I love it.

I agree with this. I just kept seeing heals of 14 or so flashing on the screen and really didn't notice any benefit at all from the bloodworms. I didn't check to see if I could glyph for better use of the worms, but I didn't see enough potential to pursue it. I think they're just weak any way you slice em...
Bear in mind that I don't log and parse anything, I just go by feel and the first build I tried after the patch felt really weak. The second one is definitely much better. YMMV of course!

The one use I see for bloodworms is the same for any kind of garbage spammable pets in the game.

In PvP they make you harder to target by tabbing. If you do something sadistic like rolling a gnome and take some noggenfoggers and fight from behind/inside ghouls and other people's pets you're effectively hard to target by both tabs and mouse click. Even if you don't want to use this to make yourself hard to target, this helps by making nearby teammates hard to tab target as well.

On my 76 DK I've done this.

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#jfVMVbchsfofosxZf0hbxM:VGZV

And it works great.

Bloodworms for healing, all the goodness of Blood and DS as the new Oblit.

Basically diseaseless Oblit, but substituting Oblit with DS.

Make sure you always have 50 Runic Power, so that the glyph gives you the extra DS damage. So, just one Death Coil once you get to 90 or 100 Power.
