Hi,

My Ret Pally is closing in on 68. Will I be able to handle the starting zones at 68?

Thanks!

Easily. Pretty much any class can, let alone a burst damage class like ret, especially considering all of Northrend is crawling with Undead to use your extra super powers on.

Thanks! Cool. I wasn't looking forward to going all the way to 70 for the fifth time in Outland. (When you see something that often, particularly when you can't even get a pug together easily, it becomes tedious at best.) This will be my first Northrend adventure, however.

Buy or quest for a new (Northrend) weapon ASAP when you get there. Going from 67 DPS --> 110+ DPS will be the single biggest thing you can do to make your life easier off the bat.

Is it possible to buy such a weapon at 68?

I checked the AH. It appears that such weapons are 70 and up. I will have to find a quest weapon at first.

Or maybe gems and enchants.

One of the very first quests you do in Borean Tundra will give you a pretty snazzy 2h sword as a reward option. If for whatever reason maces are more your thing, I believe there's a 2h mace option from the same quest as well. Neither is zomfg uber as 2h weapons go, but for a level 68 pally it's a very decent start in Northrend.

Ermm...that's assuming you're Alliance, of course. Horde would most likely have an equivalent reward from Warsong Hold, and I would expect it would be from one of the first quests you do, but I can't give many specifics.

Initial quests in HF or BT will give you enough greens. Just take it easy for the first half hour or so, because mobs will be noticeably harder to kill than the ones in Outland.

Level isn't a problem, since the first mobs you fight will be 68-69.

Yeah, LOL. 4th quest, 110 DPS.

Thanks everyone!

Yes, Northrend at 68 depending on gear is a breeze. I had some early BC stuff when I went there and it was a little challenging for a couple of quests, but nothing insane.

There is a blue quality axe you can get in Borean soon after arriving.

Alliance - http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=12019

Which gives you...

The alliance quest is rather short but requires a 3 person group quest that's very difficult to solo, even for a ret paladin (although I'm sure some BC raid geared paladins did).

The Horde version requires multiple chains out of Warsong Hold, but all of them are soloable.

Yes. But you can do what you want. IF you like outland you can stay, but it is generally considered to be better to get into the new content, working on the new Rep, getting new flight paths....

Xp off mobs and quests greatly dwarfs that given by TBC content, meaning you level faster.

Unlike TBC though you have Borean and Fjord as starting zones so you aren't going to be lvl 79 and feel like you ran out of quests.

Yes, I just recently hit northrend like a week or so ago on my pally. Did all quests in Borean with no problem. Did all of Dragonblight and made it to 73, and as much as i dont care for it, had to do a few quests in Grizzly Hills to get 74 before I could quest in Zul'drak. Working on Zul'drak as we speak.

The 3 man group quest takes some getting used to, but I had no problems as a Ret.

It actually would be much easier as a Prot or Holy, as Tharrasian's damage output is great, his tanking sucks because he keeps going during the damage reflect period.

I ended up tanking the Lich, and healing Tharrasian during the Soul Drain period. It worked fine.

When I try to follow those links I am taken to the E-Poll website!

Do you have the links to the Alla quest database?

Thanks
