Hello,

was looking for information about a duo mage combo. We both just got lvl 10 last night. He is looking at going frost for easy crowd control and AOE grind. I was more open to any of the 3 trees. Was thinking a 2nd Frost would help us with CC and more AOE damage.

Are there benefits to the arcane tree if i plan on duo'ing all the way up? Is fire tree a better use of the 2nd toon?

sorry i am new to WOW and trying to learn thanks for any tips.

I think anything works, really.

Regardless, fire+frost sounds like a thrill to me - you could do the damage while your pall does (most of) the kiting. Could be fun in PvP too.

Edit: Come to think of it, a fire spec with shatter would be extremely enjoyable when teaming with a frost mage, methinks.

As leveling is not hard there isn't a negative or 'worst' spec to choose. I would go double frost, banking off the similar idea that Moza stated, sharing frostbite + shatter is amazing. A fire mage speccing for shatter wastes a lot of points just to get that talent, and gives up a lot of points that would make their fire spells a lot better.

The problem with duo mages is efficiency.

You don't want one guy burning massive mana on Blizzard while the other guy is an arcane mage bursting down one guy. The Blizz could get wasted...

I would go Double frost. AOE killing.

Or

Double Arcane. Single mob zerg.

Fire offers none of the control of Frost, but some of the power of Arcane.

Right now - at 75, I'm loving my solo Arcane with a hint of Frost for improved control. Very good. I'm killing most things in 3 shots.
