Question about PW:S and PoMFollow

I have a quick question for all you priests.
If I shield someone, and then PoM them, does my target's next hit use the PoM and then the rest of the damage roll over to the shield?
aka target gets hit for 100, PoM goes off and heals for 90 and the shield takes the other 10?
Or am I just reading shields wrong ?

Edit: I'm quite wrong, as others will point out. Ignore me.

When you are shielded with PoM on you, the shield takes priority over PoM. PoM only activates when you take damage, which the shield absorbs. Hence, if you're shielded, no damage, and no PoM.

Say you are shielded, and the shield will absorb 100 damage. You are hit for 70, meaning the sheild still holds, and you yourself have not taken damage. PoM will not bounce.

However, if the shield will absorb 100, and you are hit for 120, the shield will break and you will take 20 damage. This will cause a PoM bounce.

If you get stuck not taking damage with a PoM and shield on you, I would recommend right-clicking the shield buff and casting a SW;D to pass it along.

Case in point, lock gets PoM, uses spirit tap, takes damage, PoM triggers, and moves to the next.

Got a lock. This is not true.

In raids I've seen my PoM bounce off someone I've shielded too...
My suggestion, as I don't know all the facts, is that you get a buddie and duel to try it out. Watch your combat log.... and if you have the time come back and tell us what you got!

Locks' life tap has never (or at least, hasn't for a long time) caused a PoM bounce.

It used to not bounce if a shield completely absorbed damage, however after googling, I've found some conflicting reports. I'm not so sure anymore. The best thing to do would be to log onto your priest and test it out yourself.

The PoM won't jump if you are shielded, I've done it more than I care to admit, where I would be shielded and a PoM jumps to me, and I SW:D and the shield absorbs the damage, then I have to wait for the CD to cast another SW:D to get the PoM to jump.

BakaShinobi and SynnTastic are right.

ProM jumps when the target *TAKES* damage. The reason it doesn't jump on life tap is because life tap doesn't deal damage - it just *costs* life instead of mana. ProM does not jump off targets who have a shield up because the shield absorbs all incoming damage (and thus the target *takes* no damage). The only way for ProM to jump of a shielded target is if the shield only partially absorbs the incoming damage; IE. PW:S only has 300 absorbtion left and you get hit for 400 - PW:S will absorb 300 damage but the last 100 will cause ProM to trigger.
