Sorry for starting two threads in a row, however I didn't want to start two completely different discussions in one thread.

Last I knew, Hunters were at a slight disadvantage to many other classes in arena battles. I know a while back blizzard was doing different things to try and balance hunters out, but I don't ever recall a solution that really did a lot. I had a couple ideas come to me from nowhere so I thought I'd share them with the alla community.

First idea I had was for the pets "growl" to work a little different than it does now. Instead of building threat faster, what if growl made the target focus on it. At first I was thinking of adding a time frame that the target has to target the pet, but in PvP situations it would then be overpowered. So upon use of this ability on another player, the ability would force the player to target the pet but only as long as it takes the person to realize what happened and re target or just hit last target. In my opinion this doesn't seem like it would be too overly powerful but a definite weapon in the ******* of a well played hunter. However many PvE players would be upset with this change, especially those who go solo a lot, so perhaps it could be a new skill in the pet tree for certain pets or they could work with the mechanics... perhaps when used on an npc it is garunteed to hold agro for 3 seconds. So an MD then a growl and the target should be dead unless it is an elite or too high level.

Second idea that came to is due to the fact that hunters miss an ability that most other classes have... The ability to heal themselves, even if only for a small amount unless they use a bandage or drink a potion... neither choice really reliable for a hunter who might want to fight in arena. The idea I had is either a pet ability or a hunter ability which when activated, channels 1/2 the pets health to the hunter up to a certain amount. The numbers for the skill can be played around with a lot to keep it as balanced as possible. perhaps its a 10 second channel with a cool down of 2 minutes. Or if bliz was to make it so that this ability was usable on others so the hunter could channel their pets health to another player, after the ability maybe the person gets a debuff where the ability can't be used on them again for say 3-5 minutes. personally I think all classes should get some type of ability to heal themselves that can be useful when used correctly. The spells shouldn't be as powerful as classes who can be healers, however those classes can be awesome at dps, why can't even the dps classes get a useful healing ability.

FYI, hunters are currently the 3rd strongest class in arena after paladins and death Knights.

Thanks for info. I took a few months off and just recently came back, And as a person just now gaining some interest in the PvP aspect of Warcraft, hadn't taken the time to search what was done when they were talking about the tweaks to hunters for arenas. I still feel as those would be fun abilities, but perhaps they would make hunters too OP. Like the title of the thread says, wishful thinking. May I ask, what does make Hunters good in arenas now? I'd like to hear some of the techniques hunters use in arenas.

Hunter PvP spec
+ Glyph of Wyvern sting (-15 second on cooldown)
+ Glyph of Disengage (-5 seconds on cooldown)
+ Glyph of the Monkey (+20% runspeed for 6 seconds whenever you dodge)

And with a crab for Roar of Sacrifice and Pin

Just look at what it gives you, it shouldn't be hard to figure out why hunters are strong.

idea #1: maybe
idea #2: NO!!

honestly, hunters should only be getting hit to the point where they need something like that up till the point they get feign death. If you pet doesnt fail, and if your specced BM, you dont need that second idea. As to the first one, the reason growl doesnt do that is so that the ******* hunter who forgot to deactivate growl in that raid doesnt accidentally steal MT aggro and wipe the raid.
