Emblems of HeroismFollow

So I've gotten a bunch of these emblems and I can't help but wonder what they expect locks to buy with them. Not much seems to have hit rating. Some of my blues are better than the gear in the shop. I replaced a green trinket with the spell power and crit mods, but I think I'll replace it.

What do locks buy with these?

The items that I purchased with my emblems were:

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=40682;source=live

I run a standard 41/30 FG/Ember build and they were all significant upgrades on what I had.

I got that trinket too, but everything I've read says that crit isn't something locks should be looking for. I got it for the chance of spell power increase, but I doubt that alone will make it worth keeping, once I get better gear.

I also considered that belt, but I'm currently using Belt of Unified Souls, which I think is better.

That necklace is nice, but again, I use Necklace of Taldaram. It has better mods, I think.

The badge neck and belt are both superior items.

A quick way I use to evaluate items, similar to ilevel but less scientific, is to add up all the useful stats that apply to my character as a 1 for 1 point then compare the totals on the two items. I generally ignore base armor. I value sockets at 16 points and add the socket bonus. If an item has a stat I don't need, like MP5 for a lock, I don't add. If an item has spirit, and it's for my lock, I'll divide the spirit by three.

The emblem belt is 49+52+16+4+68+42+33 = 264 points. The other belt is 49+51+68+42 = 210 points.

54 point difference, most in haste. That's almost like having 4 extra gem sockets.

Some people give different stats different point values, but I use the 1-1 just so I can quickly make a determination. If the items are close, I'll do further research.

I honestly don't know all the details, but I know hit rating cap is what locks should aim for, then focus on spell power and other things. My hit rating is only 305 (11.63%) right now, which is why I feel the necklace and belt I have are better. Having all purples would be nice, but if a blue beats a purple, I'm likely to use it.

The badge belt is better in every way. The only thing you lose out on is 9 hit rating before gems, given that there is a 16 hit rating gem you end up gaining 7 hit rating plus another 4 from socket bonus for a grand total of 11. You also gain 42 haste rating and 1 stam. I have no idea how you think the blue belt is better.

The badge belt is an upgrade no matter how you look at it as stated. (gemmed with a rigid autumn glow if you need hit)

And remember that hit rating only needs to be capped for raiding.

The necklace is not only 9 SP more. 34 spirit = about 10 SP for a lock. So your getting +19 SP in addition to more mana and life.

I honestly never looked into gems much, because I know the good ones are very expensive. I was comparing the two without thinking of the gem slot. I'll reconsider that belt.

The gem are seriously less then 100g it is incredibly cheap. There is no point not to gem your gear, this is especially true for the belt as it is the best belt you can get before 25 man Naxx. I have just now upgraded it with the belt from 25 man Thaddius.

Ok, I'll get that belt.

Are those Gloves/Chestguard of the Lost Conqueror worth it then? The chestguard lacks hit rating, but has a socket. I'm currently using Ebonweave Robe/Gloves, which has a good amount of hit and spell power.

I just checked the chest and looks like if you were to socekt it with 2 hit gems you'd gain 1 sp and would be trading 23 sta for 30 int. Really doesn't seem to be worth it. If you went with 1 hit gem and 1 sp gem you'd get 22 sp and lose 16 hit. Its really a side grade.

I would suspect that the gloves are similar to this.
