I'm doing around 1250 dps at 72 with my new wolf pet at 70. Is it really that hard to get shot rotations down? (rhetorical)

It's not really a rotation anymore, you just need to prioritize your shots.

Basically, the order is:

Kill->Black Arrow->Explosive->Serpent->Aimed/Multi->Steady

Well, something is clearly wrong in the OP's case. I've found most of my dps issues belonged to the organic lifeform running the keyboard and mouse, so, in other words: me.

What I find most disturbing with Northrend is the serious lack of serious gear, the +spell stuff is killing me! I can't find +hit mail to save my life and when I do, I have to give up a ton of other bonuses on my existing gear. My dps and/or survivability takes a nosedive when I equip it. Now, I know +hit doesn't really come into play until 80, but still, shouldn't I have some +hit prior to 80? Thus far, I'm underwhelmed by the gear choices in LK and my current gear is Kara, S3 Arena, and rep gear... nothing to write home about!

I wish I could say I'd be surprised if I hit 80 and am still wearing anything I currently am, but at the way things are looking, Blizz is hardly sending Hunters some gear love in LK so I might very well be.

Maybe they think its back in the old days where you could play with AotV on? In that case, they have GREAT mana management

Well it gets better the closer you get to 80. At 80 I had pretty much hit capped without a single instance drop (apart from a BoE I bought on the AH). Just crafted and quested gear with a bit of gemming where it made sense.

After a single drop I am now finding I have surplus hit but I am loath to re-gem because the next upgrade might leave me short again. Thereagain given the mean time between upgrades I guess I should just eat the gem cost. Smiley: smile

It's all the haste pieces that were pissing me off on my grind up. The stats were right, but the bonus wasn't crit or hit or AP, but friggin' HASTE. Ugh! For that matter, I'm still running into that issue with rep-purchased epics and even some of the drops.

I think the main problem seems to be that hunters that fail, fail badly.
A bad DK still uses all of his abilities and uses his runes as they come off cooldown. A bad mage is constantly casting. It seems to me that most bad hunters seem to think that as long he is using autoshot then he is dpsing and any spells he uses are something extra.

A bad dk can usually reach 1k dps without trying, but a bad hunter just sits and autoshots and only does 600-800dps.

Considering I was at 2k+ at 70, I don't know what type of hunters you're around.
