for ***** n giggles i wanted to see how swapping my gear around would affect my wow-heroes score.

i put on:
Valor Medal of the First War and Libram of Renewal
then logged out and refreshed wow-heroes to find my score went up over 100 pts. my dps would take a pretty decent hit if i were to keep those equipt.

this is obviously just a characteristic of the website. but i see PUG raids blindly using this site for gear checks. not a complaint, just an observation.

WoW-heroes and the like just go by iLvl with no consideration as to whether or not the gear in a particular slot is suited to the spec (or even the class) of the toon that has it equipped. Folks who use those sites to pull up a name and then glance at the score without looking at the gear that produced that score aren't doing themselves any favors, but used properly they can still be a faster/easier option for gear spot-checks than the Armory.

yeah, i use wow-heroes any time we need to pug a dps. i'll do my best to look over the gear, but i'll admit i don't know all the classes out there well and can only guage generally if the gear looks right... if it looks "right" then i'll take the score as relatively indicative of their capability. for the most part all we need to pug lately has been healers so i'm familiar enough with healing to know to check their sp/crit/spirit/haste/mp5 depending on the class. but most dps i give a very cursory glance at their gear. be.imba.hu seems to be more accurate as it will rate a lot of the stats the person has on their gear though. i just find it to take longer since it analyzes everything and i'm likely to still check the gear anyway a little bit.
