I have a level 17 blood elf priest, I am wondering if i should delete him to make an undead priest because I read that they are better at pvp because of their racial.

If you're otherwise happy with your belf, it would be rather dumb to delete 17 levels of work for a racial.

That's besides the point that IMO Arcane Torrent is far better for a priest than anything Undead have to offer. It's free mana every couple of minutes. The silence/interrupt effect works wonders against the overabundant Death Knights and Paladins. You'll also have Fear Ward available to you eventually if you're still concerned about being feared. Also, belfs have a 2% chance to be missed by ALL schools of magic, while Undead are limited to shadow magic only.

As a tip for the future, always have a look at when those PvP recommendations were made. Will of the Forsaken used to be great years ago, but not only has Arcane Torrent been changed since then and Fear Ward become available to all priests, Warlocks as the prime candidates for handing out fears have become far less significant in PvP than they used to be.

Very interesting point Kann... I've always seen the UD racial as *the ultimate PvP racial for horde*, but in a way, you're right, perhaps. You do have Fear Ward that helps against fear, and fear isn't your greatest enemy as a PvPing priest. A free mana pot and a silence are indeed useful.

Hmm...

Well it's still extremely good for melee classes who are constantly being subjected to a boatload of different fear effects. As a priest though, the only spell you need to worry about besides Fear itself is Death Coil, and since that one is a terror effect, Will of the Forsaken won't get you out of it anyway.

It used to matter a bit when priests had racial spells, but all thats gone now so doesn't make much difference now. Aside from what matters to you, only very hardcore guilds might consider such things (or they may not).

Well of course, that's what I meant; I had sort of an epiphany when reading your post - I've always thought of WOTF to be the best PvP racial for any horde player full stop. You made me realize that if you put a little thought into it, this might not be quite as true if you're playing a priest.

Actually I still love WotF for PVP. But I wouldn't go giving up that fabulous blood elf hair for it. A silence is at least as nice.

Humans are probably the best going forward for PVP, it used to be dwarves since any rogue escape, no matter how slight a chance is a huge advantage. Breaking fears is really nice in PVP though, but blood elves probably have the highest % to be flat out missed by spells which is also nice.

For PVP, I'll say they make a difference, occasionally they are game winning. I'd consider myself to be lying if I said racials make no difference. That said, for PVE they make far less of a difference, and blood elves are middle of the pack decent anyways. If you really wanted to min-max for endgame PVP it would be human right now, but who knows, maybe by the time you got one to 80 and geared some other race would get buffed while yours gets nerfed, etc..

That said dwarves were extremely strong for like 4 years so..

Arcane Torrent is so useful these days, for me at least, in both PVP and PVE. I also love the magic resistance, especially since we are so squishy. Generally it depends on how you will play and if these things are important to you. I have a few toons scattered across different races as I wanted to experience all the starting areas and get a feel for the racials. Since they changed arcane torrent I find I have used it so much I am struggling to level my none BE mana users now as I miss it so bad.

Also I'm with teacake on the cool BE hair issue :D

Being human (as a priest) used to suck, drastically. At least, for PvP. The only consolation we had, our racial spells didn't suck NEARLY as bad as the NE's did. Smiley: cool Now, don't get me wrong, Desperate Prayer was great. It's only slightly less useful as a talented spell. The other racial (it sucked so bad it's name now escapes me ... Aren't repressed memories fun?), was so bad I barely even remembered we had it.

Now, Humans are great for PvP. Being able to use both trinket slots for actually USEFUL trinkets and still have the "break any effect that makes you lose control of your character" abilty - priceless. And the +10% rep gain makes all the rep grinds that much easier.
