holy pallyFollow

#1 Mar 31 2009 at 7:12 PM Rating: Decent
Okay so I just dinged 80 and as soon as I did I respecced to holy. Now before Lich king I had no problem healing I was a good healer. Now after doing a few instances and a heroic I can tell right now I am not healing as much as I once did. So I am in need of some guidance. I am wondering if all people experience this or if it is just me. So any and all help is appreciated. Here is the armory link to look at my current gear. any suggestions in a healing spell rotation would be nice along with some tips and tricks of healing as a holy pally.

You seem to be a few weeks behind me and are in the same situation I was when I dinged 80. I havent been 80 for long but I have healed Naxx so I know (more or less) what I am talking about... basically the same as I was told in my thread.

First: Your Talents, not good to be honest. You have too many invested in the Holy tree.
I dont know how to link to a talent build so I will link to my Armory, I suggest copying it, but in the ret tree put points into Heart of the Crusader rather than Deflection.

Gear: You need more Intellect on your gear. Intellect is converted into spellpower and crit chance, and even mana regen through things like Divine Plea and Replenishment.
Titansteel Guardian is a decent weapon to start with, you are a miner so collecting the Bars for it wont be too expensive for you.
Ornate Saronite gear is far better (in my opinion) than Brilliant Saronite. I still use my Ornate Saronite chest because I cant find better, and I used the Helm for ages as well.
I reccomend getting Tabard for Argent Dawn, they have a very nice helm and ring at exalted.
You still have a melee trinket equipped.
For a sheild upgrade I reccomend you run DrakTharon Keep on normal difficulty. The final boss drops a very nice Healer sheild which I used for a while as well.
Gems. Most of your gear isnt gemmed at all. I reccomend any gem that adds +Int, +Crit or +Spellpower. In that order. For the meta slot, get an Insightful Earthseige Diamond, costs about 100g on my server.

Now for why you should be stacking all that Intellect. The best Healing routine as a Paladin involves alot of Holy Lights and Holy Shocks. If your mana does run low and there is no chance to use Divine Plea, then Sacred Sheild the Tank and use Flash of Lights.

Glyphs: Glyph of Holy Light (essential). Glyph of Flash of Light (essential in my eyes). For your other Major you can choose between Glyph of Divinity, Seal of Light or Seal of Wisdom. I chose Light.

You will want to drop Tailoring, dont think it provides much of a bonus to a Healadin. If you have money to burn you can Grind JC to get the awesome gems and the nifty little Trinket you will see on my Armory page.

I think that covers everything.

People gave alot of help in my thread (literally taught me all I know) so I will link it for you as well. There really is alot of fantastic stuff in there.

Edit: Just remembered enchants. A good idea is to collect any green items that drop. Give them to a friend to Disenchant for you, this means you can get free enchants for your gear. I hesitate to blow my own trumpet, but I think the enchants I have on my gear are among the best you can get for cheap prices. I got all mine for free, simply by sending the occasional green to my disenchanting friend. There are better enchants available, but they start to get real expensive so not a good idea on items you intend to replace. And Spellthread on your Legs, search your AH for one suitable for your needs.

If you haven't done the amphitheater yet, do that for a decent mace.

Otherwise, or still even if you haven't, getting the epic crafted healing mace is a nice upgrade. Yeah yeah, heroic Nexus will gain you a better one and all, and even revered with wyrmrest gives you a decent one, but it really isn't a difficult mace to get. Plus, it gives you a reason to get +50SP on it.

Its the route I went and I had it for a very long time.

Other than that? Get your talents in order, and run the regular 80 dungeons. Not only will it give you a bit more practice, but you'll get some gear. I personally went into heroics after I had 1600SP and 16-17000 mana I believe. Made it a cakewalk.

-Drop Deflection and fill up Heart of the Crusader/Improved Judgement
-I would find 3 more pts (from BoK) and put them into Sanctified Seals
-It's your choice but I would just drop those other 2 BoK points and maybe some from Spiritual Focus into something else like blessed life.

Your stats look okay for heroics so just keep running them to replace gear as it comes along. I would save up emblems for your trinket/shield/libram in that order. For Heroics I usually just have beacon of light on a melee dps and heal tank directly...topping people off with FoL and HS as we go along. Several boss fights may call on you to beacon the tank and pump out heals on him and then others. Your priority is to keep the tank up. If everyone is doing what they're supposed to it should go smooth. Also be sure to glyph up your spellbook, those come in handy too.
