Im just curious of some of the ideas of the hunter community for Dual Spec. Obviously we can't have a dps spec and a tank/heal spec that many other classes have the option of. When it is finally released, I am torn between doing a surv and MM spec and using in different situations depending on the group and the fights, or having a pve spec and a pvp spec.

I'll be a BM SV dual spec, because I raid as SV, and I want to tame a lazer kitty.

Well with the Glyph of Mend Pet and Thunderstomp change, it looks like Blizz might be starting to take the notion of pet tanking a little more seriously, so it might turn out eventually (not in this patch, however) that we may have a choice between tank/DPS roles, at least for 5-man groups (I doubt that our pets will ever be raid tanks.)

But yeah, unless your class has a spec that makes you a specific tank or healer, dual spec is a little wasted. "Hmmm, what should I be for this raid? DPS or, er, em...DPS?"

The real option a hunter, mage or rogue has for dual spec is: PvP and PvE specs. If that's what you're interested in.

If you don't see the value in 2 specs, don't drop the 1000 gold on it. I seriously doubt my hunter is going to have 2 specs unless a raid leader asks me to take some talents to a raid that I don't want otherwise.

I'll probably have one BM raid spec, and the other either BM soloing or something crazy that picks up Silencing Shot and Scatter Shot along with lots of trapping talents in hopes that someday I will be called upon to CC once more.

I probably won't bother with dual spec until after we help my hubby's best friend get his epic flying, though. We got him the bronze drake last night, now he needs to learn to use it. xD

I really don't see this being useful for hunters other than a pve and a pvp spec. One spec is generally dominant for raidind and that is what you should stick with.

My guess is that most hunters will either take a PVE / PVP dual spec or simply a BM / Raid spec for the pets.....

With respect to others - I have no idea for rogue.

Mages have Raid spec, PVP spec, then within Frost they could also choose to go for an AOE Blizz spec for farming. I don't know if there is anything similar for the other pure DPS classes....

I'll probably do PVE/PVP since my pet can't hold aggro in SV I'll be able to switch between the too for dailies and raids and such.

So because your pet can't hold aggro from you in PvE SV spec you'll be going PvP SV spec to counter that? Smiley: rolleyes

I think people are trying to hard to invent ways to use this that just aren't practical.

LOL yea if you are worried about pet and daily issues then you should really be looking at a BM spec.

I'm still not sure what or if I will use this on my hunter, but the idea of a BM spec and pumping up my pet for tanking options sounds fun.... now if I can just convince some guildies to try that and not freak over repair bills......

I read that as he'll be SV for PVP, BM for Raid/dailies.

I'll probably go SV spec for raiding or another raid spec depending on nerfs/buffs, and I'll have my farming BM spec. I really miss aoe farming as BM but not enough to switch specs couple times every week, so duel spec will be nice.

I'm not much into PvP, so I'll just go with my raid spec if I get the urge.
