Way too much elitism going on in this thread.

Is raiding hard? I don't know, what's your definition of hard? Are you/were you in a hardcore raiding guild that was doing Sunwell in TBC? If so, then WotLK has probably been a walk in the park for you so far. If you're in a casual raiding guild (or worse) you might be surprised just how little you can take for granted.

It may not seem like much to some of you, but having to rely on nine other people not to die on Heigan or having a group without the perfect set-up kiting the Zombie Chow on Gluth or doing Grobbulous with five melee DPS is challenging enough for me.

Is Rogue DPS hard? Objectively, no. I don't think it is. DPS as a whole is the easiest damn job in the game. Obey the fight mechanics and hit your rotations obey your priority systems to the best of your undeniably human ability. If you ***** up, the worst thing that is likely to happen is that your output will be lower than it should be. It's not like being a tank or a healer where if you ***** up someone--and potentially 9-24 other someones--die as a direct result of your shortcomings.

Relatively speaking, however, yes, I personally think Rogue DPS is hard. They've got a heck of a lot more to manage than most other DPS classes out there do.

And we know which ones you call back.

And it shouldn't be hard to raid Naxx as a newbie if you have a semi-competent raid leader. Melee dps really only has to worry about a few things in the entire raid, and if you can't follow the group in the Heigan dance you need to be /gkicked, as you haven't learned mouse mechanics, much less class mechanics.

OP I'm not sure if you are still checking this, but I've gone Subtelty for leveling. Jumping out of Stealth and critting with ambush for 3/4 of the mobs health is hot. Yes, it kind of sucks with adds... there goes my burst damage potential on the 2nd mob, but S&D and I'm ok.

Now that I got "all" that I basically want with Subelty for the moment I've been branching off for the DW OH extra damage, as well as the +hit damage, and of course Close quarter combat for the extra crits with dagger/fist weapons in the Combat brance. I've also just started with Malice in Assassination branch.

Gyfhidden's armory

I made my mind up a long time ago when I started collecting my BoA items, that I'd go dagger Rogue since my BoA daggers scale as I level. Loving it, and very very very little downtime. I don't eat between fights, rarely bandage. Positioning of mobs can get tricky, or you have to be patient, but it gets the job done lol.

So far, loving the spec. It might not be optimal for raiding or instance (since until Tricks of the Trade, Ambush from stealth is a no-no), but as they say To each his own.

I'm gonna bump again, because I can...

OP, play exactly how you want to play, and do it with reckless abandon

Most people who will tell you otherwise can not achieve an ****** without closing their eyes and thinking about their perfectly spec'd, perfectly geared rogue, pulling off a perfect rotation and an obscene amount of dps. Tell anyone who scoff's at your spec to get f****d, That is unless you have put yourself in a silly hardcore guild were the, at MOST 500dps, difference is gonna keep you from tagging along for raids. In that case copy a cookie cutter, no brainer spec, and dps your heart out.

Get nuts with your spec, my favorite part of the game is the ability to respec yourself and figure out what sucks and what works for you (1440 gold on re-specs since achievment release and rising).

That's nothing.

I've spent 3251g on my DK and 1625g on my rogue.

I don't even want to know how much I've spent on my rogue in total; I'd estimate easily 20k or more since 2004.

OK just read through and aside from the various off-topic branches (i was wondering why this post had 40+ response but now it's pretty clear) it seems that basically Sub is really sub-par right now.

I completely understand that in the end you can play which ever spec you like and nothing stops anyone from raiding in Sub.
But there is always a lingering voice in the back of my head that says "you'd be better at your role with X spec"

I might try Mutilate since I never have. One thing's for sure though, once dual spec hits one of these will be Sub :)

I see what you did there.

I would join in the side conversation about Theo being a cutie and all the uberflexing, but I'm a bit late on that subject.

As for the whole Sub thing, from all that I've read, and what I've been taught, Mut is a good way to go (especially since you enjoy the whole dagger aspect). Unfortunately for me, I won't respec from combat until I can get some decent daggers, which Theo was nice enough to point me to some when I reach 75 =).

Actually, I came to the opposite conclusion. HAT rogues are the best, PROVIDED you have the right group composition. If they stick you in a group with Fury Warriors, Feral Druid, or Enhancement shamans, and you're the only rogue, you're golden as HAT.
