Blade barrierFollow

I don’t come to allakhazan often so if this question has been asked before my apologies. Just copy paste the answer and I’d be happy ^_^.

Anyway the question is, Blade Barrier (blood tree): Was changing 10% parry chance to 5% damage reduction a buff or a nerf?

I need to know because I plan on tanking end-game. I’ve asked people in-game and some say its better some say its worse and I don’t know what to think so I came here. I personally prefer the 10% parry.

I’m 75 so I’d like to hear from the 80s what’s up.

Thats my build down there if you need it for anything, pretty good dps with a 2 hand and I can tank as well. I'll change to a more solid tank build once i hit 80.

For tanking is a nerf, for PvP it's a pretty large buff.

I imagine a boss would have to be attacking pretty damn fast for it to become a buff.

Remember, a parry nullifies the attack, so you take no damage. So, if you parry 10% more, that is quite a bit of damage mitigated.

5% reduction to all isn't bad, but it isn't as good as Parry.

[EDIT]

And, about Theo's comment, remember that Parry only functions when facing the target, so only that incoming damage gets more mitigation.

The 5% works in any direction, making it even better.

Plus, you can't parry magic attacks (well, most specs can't "parry" magic attacks).

And Avoiding 5% of an AP+PoM is a lot of mitigation.

There is no point at which boss speed would impact 10% parry versus 5% reduced damage in terms of which is better for physical mitigation (Hint: It's always the Parry). It's a nerf to stacking avoidance; talents aren't effected by DR the way rating is, so it was far more effective than you might expect esp. when combined with other avoidance talents.

Yeah, that was horrible reasoning on my part.

Part of me wishes they just made it a crapton of +parry rating for 10 seconds, so it would be subject to DR, instead of changing it like this.

Hell, I wish they just made it 5% Parry instead of 10%.

I'm gonna miss it. :'(
