Protection
* Divine Guardian *New Talent* - Tier 4 - Improve the effectiveness of your Divine Sacrifice spell by an additional 5/10% and increases the duration of your Sacred Shield by 50/100% and the amount absorbed by 10/20%.

Buff to normal damage of SoB/SoM and took out the self-inflicting effect of the seal (22% weap damage -> 48% weap damage). Judgement of those seals took a nerf (16%AP 25%SP 36%weapon -> 11%AP 18%SP 26%weapon), and still inflicts damage on judgement. I imagine this was done to balance out the damage from the seal, and ease the strain on healers. And the Tier 4 Prot talent is not a great choice for ret, no damage increase at all, so we rets still have about 6 talent points to throw around.

Anyone know if Divinity effects Judgement of Light heals?

If it does it'll start to look like a truly epic talent. I'm planning on taking that one anyway, as i find myself offhealing more and more as the PuGs i join descend into ever blacker pits of terribleness. What can i say, i'm a dps *****.

It's pretty attractive anyway, 5% more healing done to you means Wild Growth, Circle of Healing etc will do a little more to heal the backlash damage of SoBlood and maybe not force your healers to detarget the tank to top you off.

The Judgement nerf is rather massive, considering it is far and away our main source of damage.

they more then doubled the Seal damage, which means, an indirect buff to haste as a stat. in fact, i think its safe to say that our SoB is an Offhand weapon but without the massive hit penelty.

with this and the +30% haste buff, haste may end up a sought after stat. we'll have to see. at the very least its not a trash stat anymore.

this also makes useing Seal of Blood alot more favorable in pvp then before. sure we lose our burst from the judge, but now every proc does more damage the SoComm proc thats only 45% on a 1 sec CD. SoComm just had its last Nail pounded in.

another thing to understand is that the nerf to the Judgment damage is also an indirect nerf to RV damage. (but CS is now on RV so overall not terrible)

another thing to look at is now that SoB is doing more damage, they indirectly buffed CS. . . . which is a power thats on my list of things blizz is about to break.

over all, this looks like a boost to PvE damage, a nerf to burst(maybe, the first salvo of: white hit, CS, DS procs may make up for the loss in judgment damage, which if done in the first 5 sec of the fight, is still considered burst to me), a very large reduction in Recoil. (10% per proc is gone, and the nerf to judgments should mean no gimmick fight self kills). in the end, very good changes imo.

and like Cap said, still no reason to go prot with our left over talents.

overall it looks like Blizz may be heading in the right direction. i guess they put "Jump to Conclusions" back in the closet and are actually thinking before they implement.

i haven't seen the word Forebearance used in quite some time, i'm nervous.

Forebearance!!!!! i got it! why not put LoH on forebearance! that way we cant bubble + heal, then get another uber heal! no more kill us 3 times crap . . . .

According to some EJers who are on the PTR, Seal recoil damage is still there (10%). But overall the change to SoB is a DPS increase for us, and haste is apparently on par with crit in terms of value. It also appears that Hit, and potentially Expertise, will be better than STR now before you reach the cap.

as long as a good portion of our DPS bypasses block parry and dodge, Expertise will still be a lack luster stat, and NO STAT will EVER be better then STR which we get huge bonuses from.

i still dont know why so many Ret pally are holding on to this stat. . . one less stat to worry about is a good thing . . . get over expertise, it will never be a good stat unless they re hack apart our class at the next expansion.

they may have slightly buffed Expertise with the rebalance of damage from judgement to seal proc, but then reverted it back when they allowed Exorcism to be used on all targets.
