I remember back in '06. Everything seemed so much brighter. We ran together in the grass, I and detect magic. I would chain sheep people, and detect magic would stop them from being dispelled. We would tell each other secrets - I would tell it about my inventions and it would tell me what buffs everyone was using - and, in one case, what colour their underwear was. We'd laugh at the human female mages, about how inferior to male gnomes they were (and still are, of course). I'll always try and remember detect magic as it was then, young, happy and carefree. I try and forget its last days, with Blizzard leeching away its life bit by bit before callously throwing it away.
Rest in peace, my friend. May your rainbow swirl never fade from our hearts.
