I love Grid as I'm sure you all know and I use it to track everything. (I won't bore you with the details I'm sure you heard them before) The only problem I have is that I have the middle of the boxes set to flash up icons for Magic and Disease as little square icons (which I can obviously use to see if I need to remove)

The problem I have is that it shows ALL magic including friendly spells like some buff the Arcane Mage in my raid does to increase his dps.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get it to ONLY shows the relevant DEBUFFS that actually need to be removed? I used to run decursive but I don't really like having extra add ons running as system performance is an issue. Last night for example I ran Naxx with only Grid and DBM on and I STILL got 20fps on Saph.

Any help would be appreciated and huge rate ups for anyone who tells me how on earth to do it (assuming it is possible)

I'm almost positive there is a way to filter out specific spells to not show up, similar to how you can add specific spells to show up as an icon. You will need to know the exact name of the spell you don't want showing up, and when I get home from work in, oh about 6 hours I will check it out if no one has answered by then.

It looks like there is something in the upcoming patch that will help out this issue. I opened a thread in the mage forum to find out a little more about it. I have been ignoring the mages when it comes to dispelling because of this issue as well. It appears the debuff is called Arcane Blast.

So to add this debuff to Grid, open the Grid config, drill down through Status> Auras> Add new Debuff.
Add "Arcane Blast". I'm not sure of the filtering ability* of Grid so I assigned Arcane Blast to show in a more nondescript location (top-right corner and gave it a bright color). I'm not sure how this will work, but will find out tonight!

*edit- I'm hoping it does not show up as both a "Magic" center icon and a top-right alert.

Regarding frame rate, last night was the first time I think I actually ran Naxx25 on a Tuesday. I've never seen such poor FPS, and my PC is pretty beefy. Patch was like a 3 min long heart attack, and frogger got me for the first time since my first run. Guess they still have load issues. :(

I can tell you exactly what that will do, well as far as how ysabell has grid set up.

Since Ysa has magic debuffs show up as the center icon. So every time a magic debuff shows up on a player, a red box(I think it's red for magic debuffs, could be wrong, but let's just call it red) appears in the center box.

If you then do what Trylofer said and choose an indicator on the top right corner, basically what will happen is, if an acrane mage uses their debuff you will get the center red box as well as the top right corner marker, meaning that toon has a magic debuff, but it is Arcane Blast so don't dispell it.

That is one way around it, a bit complicated but it works. I am still pretty sure that you can simply remove a particular spell(filter) from the list of magic debuffs so that it won't trigger the center icon when it is applied.

Edit: you edited yours before I posted, but yeah it will show both icons.

Was afraid of that.

That sounds much simpler!

Ok so I've looked and looked, and it seems like the only option I can find is to do what Trylofer said, which will ultimately put two icon boxes on your grid, the center icon for magic debuffs and, say the top right icon for arcane blast, so you will know not to dispell that debuff.

Boo I was afraid of that. I use all my corners already and if there are extra colours in them I will get confused. Top left is target has aggro, top right is renew is active, bottom left is incoming heals and bottom right is shield active. I frequently run with another priest and this helps us both monitor each others shields and renews.

Rate ups for giving me an option and for trying your hardest. If anyone knows if there is a way to manually configure the debuff list that would be brilliant. I am assuming the issue is it is wrongly classified as a debuff so also Blizz if you can just make the thing not class as a debuff that would also work. I assume it is this issue as Grid does not class innervate, underwater breathing spells, shields and similar as debuffs and even when I know they have been used I have never seen them on Grid.

Meh... mages and their magic, tsk, tsk.
I did check out some of the Grid files and it appears that it keys off of debuffs that have "Magic" in their name. I am certainly not proficient enough to edit the coding to make the necessary adjustment to exclude Arcane Blast as a debuff, so we'll just have to wait for Blizz to do something about it...

Aha! Just when you thought Blizz was too busy changing flask timers to do anything about this ongoing issue, they surprise you!
* Arcane Blast stacking effect is no longer considered a Magic effect and will not be dispelled.

Another reason to welcome the patch.

Just a suggestion, but you could show PW:S and Weakened Soul as borders with different colors. Just give PW:S a higher priority than WS and you will get a nice graphical "Shield" surrounding the player's box. When the bubble pops, it will be replaced with the WS color. Works great with multiple shield tossers.

If your corner icons are taken there is an add-on to the add-on called gridsideindicators, which gives you the option to put icons on the sides, similar to the corner squares it puts them on the left, right, top and bottom sides, along with the 4 corners.

GridAlert
GridIndicatorSideIcons
GridManaBars
GridSideIndicators
GridStatusRaidDebuff

are other grid add-ons that go along with grid to help it be even more functional.

I keep considering the mana bars one but couldn't find it on curse. Thanks for all your help and woohoo for Blizz changing it!
