I was just remembering something that happened way back in BC. My husband and I had our PC's over at his friend's house so we could run some instances and do some 5v5's together. I can't remember everyone's classes, but I was playing my resto druid and there was another girl there who played a balance druid.

In our 5v5 matches, she kept dying first and her boyfriend finally got fed up and told her to watch my screen to learn how to kite properly (admittedly, I'm not sure how well a balance druid can kite in a 5v5 situation, but whatever).

So she's watching over my shoulder as I'm kiting and healing and then she asks, "What's that thing you just did where the vines surrounded your body?"

Me: "uhh.. barkskin?"
Her: "Is it a resto druid thing?"
Me: "No, all druids have it."
Her: "Well, I don't."

After the fight, I helped her find the ability and get it key-bound.

Next fight, similar situation happens where she dies first, so she watches me play again. I use tranquility.

Her: "Oh, pretty. What ability is that?"
Me: ...

Seriously. Her main character, a level 70 druid... and she had no idea what barkskin or tranquility were.

Don't waste your time RB. Everyone I know says that by the end of the game they have capped resources everywhere without really trying. If there's something you REALLY want you can scan for it but I've stopped bothering (except when I run over a node while scanning an anomaly planet).

1) Which moron decided that the resource gathering system would be fun? I've spent almost half my playtime so far scanning stupid planets to get enough resources for upgrades - hours of mind numbing crap play!
2) Seriously, it was two hard for them to program for the mouse wheel and double clicking menu options in the interface? ME1 had it.
2) They got rid of the hot keys for your journal & squad screen - ME1 I could hit J or U, in ME2 I have to hit esc then click on the button.

For such a fantastic game, it is tough to continually have these little things (2&3 above) annoying you and knowing it is likely due to a lazy port from the Xbox version - Bioware are NOT a company I would usually associate with lazy - all their games have had fantastic stories. ME1, ME2 & Dragon Age:Origins have all had literally hours of voice acting in them and the worlds/universes they have created are absolutely amazing in their depth.

The resource thing just confuses me totally.....

That's why I have a lifetime membership to CheatHappens.com (insert corny Colgate smile)!

Seriously, though, I got that trainer just so I could skip the whole mind-numbing planet scan thing. What idiot decided that the mouse sensitivity when you scan is reduced to half that of when you're not scanning? I took my mouse (cordless) from one end of the desk to the other and the planet barely moved. Frustration I don't need. Trainer solved problem. Could proceed with kicking ***. Good choice.

Also, Mordin is my favorite character. I love the part where he starts to sing. Smiley: lol

On my first druid, it took me about 5 levels to realise I had already had Starfire when I was anxious to finally get it. Smiley: blush

Lol, I still rock balance now and again.

I'll most likely go back to balance full time when cata drops and they "supposedly" fix balance.

Until then I keep up on the ins and outs of it.

I'm going to guess haste not adding much to DPS past certain point compared to all the other DPS classes.

Haste soft caps at 401, you become crit capped at 42% and you scale terribly with every single stat?

Our dps is hinged upon one talent and any movement heavy fight completely destroys our dps.

Theres more beyond just that.

How does crit cap at 42% otherwise every thing you said made sense.

edit:

Lunar crit cap, I see. Very interesting.

Will devalue crit compared to haste but by the time this happens haste is devalued as 1 of the 2 main nukes is all ready haste capped at 1.0 cast time. So you have haste not benefiting Wrath and crit not benefiting Starfire for a large percentage of time. So both stats are furthered devalued leaving only a single stat, SP, to universally buff DPS. But as we all know gear doesn't come with just iLvl stam and all the itemization points spent in SP which makes for much wasted stats or at least stats that all offer a benefit equal to a value significantly less than 1 SP. Since mana hasn't been an issue for a while that also isn't an option.

Wow, mooonkin scaling does suck.

edit2:

Could you not take Eclipse and focus on a spec that spams Starfire while keeping DoTs up. Some retarded 58/0/13 spec or I am being drunk?

1 - Yes, moonkin scaling sucks.

2 - No, you are being drunk. I can`t remember exactly the number, but if I`m not wrong, Eclipse is responsible for more than 10% of a moonkin DPS. Something like 15% or so. I saw the numbers on EJ once or twice, but its 8 in the morning here, too early for me to remember a thing.

How is this different from other casters? I get the haste cap thing, but you could remove some points from Wrath and... get a useless talent instead, or something, I don't know. Movement heavy fights are probably worse for us Shaman than you Boomkins, though. You have Moonfire and Insect Swarm as instant cast DoTs, both of which add a lot to your DPS. I have Flame Shock. I cant say anything about Shaman and if Moonkin loses more or less than Shaman on movement heavy fights (though I would suspect that its more).
The reason Moonkin loses so much compared to, lets say, Mages/Locks, its when we lose the Eclipse that just procced. Since around 15% of our DPS is dependant of Eclipse, is pretty much obvious that, with a movement heavy fight and a bad rng Moonkins, comparatively, loses so much.
Graylo writed a post on wow.com adressing the problem with Eclipse. Its really well written and informative.

I see.

Well, I blame my math. Figured that 0 DPS was 0 DPS, regardless of procs, but obviously/naturally, if Eclipse boosts a Druid's damage output then moving around while that buff is up is bad. That said, Shaman get a 10% spell power boost and 5% crit whenever they... well, crit. You might compare that to Eclipse, except Eclipse probably procs way less (and has an internal cooldown). Warlocks also get a proc from their imp's firebolts, so I guess they'd be losing out on some damage if they have to move all of a sudden. Mages, well, they lack DoTs, so movement is bad anyway, but I guess they'd lose out on some damage as well, if they have to move during Missile Barrage procs.

Granted, I haven't done the math on all this, but it just seemed odd that Druids, of all the casters, should be that underwhelming.

It is expected to lose dps on movement heavy fight. I think thats not the problem. All casters will lose dps on those type of fights. The problem is the percentage of your dps you lose. I mean, going from 8k dps on a boss to 3k dps on another while you see mages and locks going from 10k to 7k...the margin is too great. And Blizzard acknowledges that.

We are taking too much damage, and the DPS is too low. Yay. The fun part is trying to fix those problems now... *sigh*

Two scenarios that affect our dps.

Critical Strike Percent - RNG is a cruel mistress and even with 60% crit because of gear/talents you will literally go through a string of about 15 wrath casts not procing a single eclipse.

Movement - Most times you will proc eclipse be it lunar or solar and you'll be required to move very shortly following. This sounds a little far fetched but it really is the truth.

This is why when it comes to a point and shoot fight moonkins can do quite well peaking in BiS gear around 9400ish dps. Given the best possible scenario on any given fight that number will drop to around 8k. Mind you 8k is good, but you never get that perfect situation.

Blizzard has openly stated that balance druids are broken and have said they have ideas of how to fix it when cata drops with the revamp of the talent structure. I really hope its for the best because I do like balance mechanics I think it was a very good idea. But how it was implemented really fell short of the expectations. Balance druids peaked at T7 and from then on its been a steady downward spiral and we sure as hell can't fly our way back to the top.

9.4k dps in BiS in a 25 man raid, seriously?
That's... sad... I think quite a few classes do that on movement fights.

What you pairing it with?

Glyph of Indomitability would be my choice but I am an armor *****.

Would the proc effect of Unidentifiable go well with Indominability's proc? One increases your stamina when hit, the other reduces your chance to get hit. Problem being that the stamina proc is a constant stackable thing and you might lose it when you use your other trinket.

Just wondering.

It's this logic (backed up by some Rawr fiddling) that has led me to pair it with Black Heart.

I have 2 oh sh*t buttons already, which will shortly become 3 when I get 4t10.

Edit: As a general rule I don't like tanking trinkets that are budgeted around use effects, they're inconvenient because the effect is extremely significant over a very short period, making for uneven results, and their procs often go wasted; whereas something like Black Heart has a relatively less significant effect that either lasts longer or is up a lot more often (or both), which makes for more evenly distributed gains. It feels more like I'm using the full item budget of the slot.

Gz, I am so jealous! If this drops next week (never this week) then I want to try and talk the regular tanks into letting me have it for my offspec as I end up having to OT this fight due to our normal offtank sucking so badly as the abomination ;) Then I realise that this is wrong to do and it would be better for either of them to take it!

I think that would be really bad (good really) luck if you didn't get hit enough to keep the buff up...but I could be wrong. Norellicus can tell us how good it is and whether it drops off at any point.

So I finally started grinding for my bear t9 set. I've also developed a new appreciation for yellow sockets. I appreciate them so much, I hope all 4 of them go die in a cold dark hole. :p

So I'm sure this is old news, but aside from the pants, did anyone else even take a socket bonus for their bear?
